Dont say its fine and you get rewarded for your time when you invest it. it does not reward you, i played 500 hours or so and the best item i found was 6s carcass jack, but i earned enough ex in a week through trading that i was able to buy me a kaoms heart, so this game doesnt reward you while playing it

Trading is a (very important) part of the game, so trading = playing and playing = reward.

Conversely,

Playing = having fun =/= spending hours in trade chat

A lot of flippers have fun when trading :P Trading has added to my fun for sure, but I rarely use the trade chat, I use the inofficial AH (poe.xyz.is).
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

oh so you just make the rounds, leaving behind some bad posts in every thread?

I enjoy the game this way. I dont wear alt gear, and thats your preference. Hell, I dont even worry about IIQ/IIR when I grind out levels and do maps. Drops will come eventually.

If you dont like grinding, then why play a grinder game made by a company called Grinding Gears?

I like diablo 2. And even though it's damn near perfection, it does mean there is an ability to enjoy grinding present. But GGG is missing the ball between work and reward so massively, people literally quit the game out of anger and frustration, rather than having experienced all of the content.

That's not a good game, that's potentially a good game with a lot of pointless barriers to keep everybody away from the good shit.

You're just wasting your breath man, the people around here will defend every awful aspect of this game to the bitter end. No matter how many times people post the same complaints here, all you get are the same fanboy responses about how everything is fine and you should gtfo. GGG could come through, nerf every build into the ground, cut the drop rates by 1000%, and make "crafting" even more awful, and most of these people would thank them for it and call you names for being upset about it. Somewhere along the line, its like everyone forgot what arpgs are (or at least were) about, finding awesome loot and feeling powerful.

That's not to say its all bad, PoE is really a very good game at its core, but as you astutely pointed out there are just so many needless barriers to enjoying it. I feel bad for all the people who post here out of sheer desperation, because they badly want to enjoy this game, but they're just tired of getting kicked in the teeth at every turn. Then they post something here and just get told to fuck off and go play something else.

+a fuckton of numbers.

I have been here since shortly after OB. Game is great compared to D3, but to D2? As far as loot goes it could be way better. GGG is smart. They can improve these things. I mean...5Ling things were improved...its still not a piece of cake to do but it isn't as depressing to try to 5L anymore much like 6Ling still is, yet I am ok with 6Ling being rare as most end games only benefit from it, not require it. I am a huge fan of GGG, but they are humans, and as all humans, are imperfect and do not always make the best decisions. Though I have been hoping a new trade system would have been implemented by now as I tire greatly from always using a third party index site. And I also was hoping for better drop rates or tweaks so that instead of only the .01% of people getting good drops it would be 10% of people getting good drops. Self found would be more viable and enjoyable and the economy and trade market could still flourish since alot of the top tier uniques are map only.
I love pie.

aethynyc, If that's the way you feel about it... maybe you have to realize this game isn't for you?? Cause you don't wanna work for it.. you rather have it fast and the easy way. Which failed for me in diablo 3.. I quit that game for that reason, Everything was to easy. And i got bored of it quick. Let's pretend GGG's raised the item drop rates.. And items were a lot easier to obtained, Prices would drop down so fast in trade channel, To the point where your gear basically worthless. when you actually do find high end game item, And you probably wouldn't feel excited about finding it either cause everyone would have it and its dirt cheap to buy from trade, Then that Crate another group of complainers about the game was to easy where there trashing the contents, cause took little effort gain anything in the game. People would lose interest faster and end up getting bored and quitting.

This my first char lvl 76 witch once i hit 60 i figured what kind of build i wanted to come up with.. And looking at trade channels, couple of The key gear's i wanted to make my build work.. cost so much. Was thinking to myself how the hell am i going to get 10ex with my first char???? So i end up farming With No MF% at all... And all this time i was looking for Ex's I actually found the gear i been wanting i was so freaking excited When i found my 3 key parts to making my build work, that excitement feeling keeps pushing me to improve my char more and more it feels rewarding to me but that's imo, Now I am working getting my 2 rings that cost me 6ex, Maybe i find them maybe i wont, But i got good strategy of collecting chaos little bit faster with no mf% either way i will get my 2 rings (^_^)

Maybe you just need to come up with strategy or making current one better?

This is also the attitude I despise. "Its not GGG, its you" mentality. The 'fans' are so far up GGGs ass that its rediculous. Now, GGG are good people, and good at what they are doing. Especially for their first time. But this game is far from perfect, to argue against this is sheer ignorance. So to address the asshat I quoted, just because you have found some sweet as honey shit for your character whom, for all we know, could have been upgraded by finding a pair of wondertraps, does not mean that you hold the most valuable opinion in the room. It is very akin and almost exactly similar to two people making a BoR build. One gets his BoR as a drop and now has undying allegiance to the drop rate. The other spends 500 hours doing 66-68 maps and gets a Crown of Thorns and 5 chaos. Now to put it into perspective yet with no real way to determine hard facts, the latter of these two individuals is undeniably the majority of the player bases' experience. Alas, this was just an example. Some people...farm 500 hours total, and net about 50-70 exalts maybe more simply because they had a Soul Taker/Shavs/Koams etc drop. And most farm 500 hours and make 10 exalts and felt lucky because they had a Rainbowstride drop. This is to exclude flipping. Now there are tons of avenues and you aren't completely bound to one to make currency. A few examples are recipes/map buy ins(if you get to 74+ maps in the first place)/flipping(the tried and true method to get rich if you have the know how and the drive)/leveling secondary gems to 20 and selling them after you quality them/alt farming/luck/luck/luck/luck/luck.....
I love pie.
