PIllar of the Caged God is a real let down for me;
" I feel like that's pretty wrong. I think a more accurate statement is "Uniques weren't intended to be the best for general builds but some are supposed to still be quite good and some are supposed to be the best item for specific slots for specific things." |

Have you tried stacking +x-y physical damage pieces?

That's the problem. +phys damage jewellery is not currently affected by melee physical modifiers. The only exception I know of is Facebreaker.
If I equip these while using my Facebreaker they each add over 300 damage. If you try these rings with Pillar, all that happens is the amulet adds some damage due to the strength and a little bit from the directly added +phys. One of the devs said in another thread that he wants to change this, but the team needs to think it through so that it can be balanced. The passive tree has far more +phys nodes than +elemental. So balancing the phys is possibly slightly harder. But all it would take is +phys from items gets 50% (for example) of the benefit from passive phys modifiers, instead of 100%. Once they sort the season race stuff out I think this should be a priority, because other than Facebreaker the +phys on items seems fairly redundant. FiftyShadesOfBlade

Is this item good in the new patch, or does physical damage on items still work like it did before?

" GGG seems to disagree. |

" Same as before, if GGG do buff this unique then they better be careful or I will be completely OP, I'm doing pretty well with it as it is. Not great, but it sure is fun having ridiculous AOE. |

what did you expect with 23-38 base dmg? this is the issue with all unique weapons, except marohi erqi. Any gg mods they might have are ruined by their low base dmg.
if you knew how physical dmg calculation goes, you'd know that base dmg is always the most important thing. Hence why even HC marauders try the best to go 2 handed builds with 2h maces lets say you have 300% physical increases besides str unique staff 23-38 x (1 + (629+300/100) % = 23-38 x 10.29 = 236 - 391 rare staff 119 - 358 x 5.25 (+425% with 300% and 629str/5 %) = 624 - 1879 19 extra ias from the dex ... meeh wont have as much effect on dps as the base raw dmg of the weapon and rare staves can go up to 3xx - 7xx base dmg, lol Dernière édition par jsn006#2582, le 13 juin 2013 à 14:56:30

"Physical damage on items is now scaled by physical damage bonuses (in a similar way to how elemental damage worked before)."
could this sort of affect/buff the current state of this unique? ign bonifaciox ROA marauder ign daming_alaga arc summoner Dernière édition par Chowderizer#0449, le 25 juin 2013 à 05:15:11

" Nice, thanks mate, My view of a unique is that it should just be a build enabler, wherein a singular/two build/s would revolve in having that unique in conjunction of course with other items albeit another unique or rare etc., Wherein that unique would act as a single driving force for that build and would not be as effective if used on other builds. Though there are some unique's right now that are somewhat, out of that norm. ign bonifaciox ROA marauder

" I agree with that. I like Uniques which completely open up a new style of playing (Hello, Facebreakers!) without making that style of play so powerful that the Min-Max style players all flock to it. I think we're seeing that now with LLRF Shavronne's and to a lesser extent, Kaom's Heart (still) and Lioneye's Glare? At least Bringer of Rain balances out with Abyssus/Kaom's, I guess. Correct me if my understanding of those Uniques/builds are wrong, of course. On topic: Facebreakers might just be one of the most fun builds I've ever played, so I perfectly understand how you feel about Pillar being a letdown. Go play another build first, and come back to your Pillar build when they buff it! |
