"Useless" Item Mods

You are lucky I am not in charge then. I would love to bring back the 100% negative item mods of Diablo days.
I should add that just about anything that eventually makes items desired for more than just life/resists.

Oh, it's you. Yes I know that. Point still stands. I can see underground as it is. It's not inky black where I can't see at all.

But thank you for your (as usual) useless contribution.

Who knows...they might add a map or area later in the future, where it's completely pitch black, or where you can only see like 2 feet in front of you or when fog or war gets added in.

maybe in the future, you can use these mod to increase the effectiveness of new skills.

just maybe.
I actually think the reduced requirements affix is even more useless than the light radius, unless it also reduces the requirements of gems that can be socketed/used.

Overall, yeah this is going to make crafting harder, the pool of possible junk affixes is increased.

Lol this is a great idea...they need to do this now.

I can see how reduced reqs can be beneficial for rolling alts, but light radius baffles me. Unless someone blotted out the Wraeclast sun, I can't see how this is a desirable mod. I wondered if "useless" mods-in general-are a necessary evil to offset creating godly gear. And on that subject, are these mods created with the mentality that they are just there to buffer the mod pool?

Nice pun.

As far as buffing the mod pool to offset creating godly gear, what will happen is the godly gear will still exist, it will just belong to a smaller minority. Fun? No.

People, you can talk all day about light radius and it's supposed benefits (none of which confirmed), but when you get that shit rolling on your otherwise awesome gear, you can think back to this time and say "Wow, I'm a retard."
I'm not a fan of light radius unless it is connected to another mod... till then it's just a weird way of dealing with low life builds.

Don't really understand why they can't have light radius depend on the combined life + ES instead of just life... or making extremely low life not as dark.
Just had a light radius ring drop. I can't seem to find where it is on the character sheet, though. Wouldn't there be a new stat with "increased light radius xx%" now?
All the things I want to remember are in the places I'd like to forget.

Given beta status, we do have to note that people who played early on will have a different experience to newer folks. Some builds will become obsolete. Others impossible to make later on. It's beta. The only way to avoid that is to do a character wipe at the end.

I'd rather let the oldies get their advantages. I also remember D1's negative stats.

THAT SAID it IS silly to put in a light radius mod. I would like added sight. however, losing a mod slot for it is...meh. If we really are going to add 'useless mods' then go all out and put negative stats in. Otherwise, i would like to hear some ideas that might be flinging around GGG's head about what benefits will eventually show for having this mod.

There's a fraction of players who like consistency and predictability: killing boss X will yield item Y.

This game really isn't for people like that.

I'm very much against useless affixes, but at least the Light affix adds some accuracy; it's weak, but at least it's not that useless. Making a huge hullabaloo about this when thorns is still in the game is just... improper prioritization.

Also the light mod would be far less useless if they paired it with something that PA users could appreciate. I don't understand why they chose accuracy, except perhaps for lame flavor reasons.

More useless mods = more useless drops/orb rolls. They might as well lower the overall drop rates of rares and currencies and remove these useless mods. It's getting boring identifying useless rares.
