The best alternative seems to be using a normal non-block high DPS sword and a Rigwald's in combination with some other block source (amulet, gloves, gemini, armour).

Thank you for your comments and the great idea of enhancing Vaal Ancestral Warchief. I just moved Precision to the the weapon, and Vaal Ancestral Warchief to the gloves. The two support gems now support Riposte and Vaal Ancestral Warchief together.

You can try the same for Onslaught and Culling Strike if you think the totem will benefit from those.

Thank you for the answer. I think using a rigwald and going for a high pDPS sword is the better choice. I might also find some chance to block sources as well. What is the maximum I should get? With the double shaper swords, the block chance you get is 18. Is the min or max? I also come up with searching abyss jewels for a belt that includes a +% Chance to Block Attack Damage if you were Damaged by a Hit Recently. Would those work as well? Best

Thanks for the great build!!! This was my league starter. Once I got to maps, Delerium and other encounters became a lot more difficult. I kept getting one shotted. I switched out Violent Retaliation for Versatile Combatant and now this build feels freaking awesome. I have done several Delerium encounters without wiping. I have 4 more trials to find for the next Lab run, then I'll add Violent retaliation back and it should be even better.

I experimented with cluster jewel a little bit for this build. I used large jewel that gave 12% increased damage with dual wield + 2% increased attack speed on the basic passives than combo'd it with Deep Cuts (15% chance to impale & last +1 additional hit) and insatiable killer (20% increased damage with dual wield, 5% atk spd 5% chance for frenzy charge). I took out fatal blade since im using Maligaro's so I lose out on some crit chance but gained more base damage. ALso sacrificed some life nodes as I am playing Softcore this league to see how it goes.

Has anyone else experimented with cluster jewels to see if you get boosts in damage for this build?

Also I decided to use Rystlatha's coil, is there a reason why this was not mentioned in the build minus the cost?

You get 10 from the Rigwald's so getting 14 total would be fine.

Yes VC is probably the most important Gladiator ascendancy.

The reason is that I can't possibly review or include every unique item in the game. It's a very good damage belt but you do lose life and in my case also around 110+ res which I'd have to find elsewhere. Don't forget that getting resists on other gear (like rings etc) means that you lose damage from those pieces. So the total damage you gain ends up less than you think at first.

Ahh makes sense. I think that belt is BiS for damage. It is a little hit to life cuz it only goes up to 100 max life but I see the resist being the biggest hit. I'm not very good at PoB calculating so haven't taken the time to compare swapping out rings for higher dps etc.

You'd still probably end up with more damage but you'd lose some life. Just less damage (I roughly calculate about half) than you see by just swapping the belt in PoB. Not sure if that's worth the cost but it's definitely an option.

would of been fun to league start with this again. The armor is like double the price since they took out the fossil craft >:(

Yeah, GGG's relationship with crafting is tempestuous. People don't craft enough so GGG gives us tools to craft more, but then people craft more and GGG doesn't like that so they nerf it.
