Would a pure phys cyclone build deal more damage with a 30% quality Disfavour or Starforge?

If you asked what will do more dps to shaper the answer would be Disfavor. You can stack bleed with Crimson Dance better with Disfavor, I really don’t think you are going to shock shaper with Starforge. Is the difference huge or even big? No probably not.
Having said all that I played pure phys slayer cyclone with Starforge (no Crimson Dance) last league and this league I am playing pure phys slayer cyclone with Disfavor (with Crimson dance) and I like Disfavor with Crimson Dance better. The DOT from the bleed stack is just better QoL IMO. |

Even with shock jewels and chance to shock boot enchant, you're never going to shock an endgame boss. Cyclone ticks are just too small. Maybe the warchief might shock, but he'll never do a full 50% shock.
To answer the OP, I agree with everyone else that Starforge is the best for pure phys. That 100 life is insane and 20% AoE is just as good as Disfavor's +2 range IMO. One of the sword nodes on the tree has +1 range already and lvl 21 Cyclone also has +1 and Daresso's Salute has +2, so you actually get quite a bit of mileage out of that 20% area. |

There's two questions in the OP.
1. Which weapon is better for a pure phys build? Starforge has higher damage, and can also be scaled with crit, which is harder ro pull off on Disfavor. Disfavor can use Sunder, and Disfavor is not restricted to pure phys in the first place. 2. Which weapon is better to 30% corrupt? 30% Starforge is useless, because it already has very high %increased damage. It has 100% base + 500% stats + 20% quality damage uncorrupted, adding +10% leads to 630/620= 1.6% more overall damage. I'd rather keep the sockets flexible than take that damage. Disfavor has only flat damage, and 20% increased from quality. Adding another 10% leads to 130/120 = 8.3% more DpS. So the 30% corruption is five times as good on Disfavor. :) 3.5 build: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2299519 Dernière édition par Peterlerock#5171, le 29 mars 2018 à 02:04:43

" No why would I? Realistically you're not shocking consistently. Vaal LT is good for a solid shock on bosses, but outside of that, you're not going to see those benefits from jewels or the meager percentages you scramble together. I try to be conservative in my cals. Ticking onslaught because your jewels has a 2% chance on kill is not how I roll. If you can get a 60% chance to shock on hit, I'll give you that tick. Anything above 30% and I'll give in and say that you'll see half the dps from shock applied. Not that it matters as shocking the boss is all that matters. Come end game, Starforge (and even Disfavour) mow down trash regardless. Deliver pain exquisite

Starforge no contest, though I think disfavour actually makes the better character in the long run.
Trying to roll an elder exquisite blade so i don't have such gimpy crit off starforge but man its such a currency sink |

PoB shock is still operating with 50%, so don't check it if u want realistic values.

TLDR: Starforge is better for pure phys, dual wield with reave/sunder and a statstick is way better for anything.
Explanation: I started this league with the intention of playing a Starforge crit cyclone Juggernaut. I tinkered with the cyclone build in PoB, tried this and that, Disfavour or Starforge, crit/no crit, and the highest cyclone damage numbers I could come up with was the Starforge crit Abyssus build - by a considerable margin (while still retaining functional survivability at ~6k life and 30k armour + endurance charges). There was another benefit - Hiltless pulled off very respectable numbers too, and it's an extremely affordable item even at day one of a new league. The phys damage on hit is a non-issue with a juggernaut. I began playing the character. I gave it a fair try. Got the Hiltless, a six-link, the Abyssus. Geared him up. I then respecced to dual wield crit Reave with a shaper stat stick and never looked back. Dual wield is way, way better in all ways imaginable. Much higher damage output, much better mobility due to higher attack speed with leap slam, much faster clear, it simply can't compare. The friend I leveled with started off as a cyclone 2H RT Slayer and switched to dual wield RT sunder. Again, miles better - for the same reasons. Even the mainhand soul taker / offhand Prismatic Eclipse pure phys build without a shaper stat stick was miles better. Dual wield has much better mobility, higher damage output and better skills than 2H (reave for 1h swords, and Sunder is substantially better with higher attack speed if you go the non-crit axe route). You have to be realistic about these things.
