Soooo, this might not be an "ideal" fix...How ever it might work for you, maybe worth giving it a try. Especially if you're running a aftermarket card such as a SC edition.

Download: Msi afterburner http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/msi-afterburner-beta-download.html

Set core clock MHz -30
Set Memory clock MHz -50

This really could stop your issue of crashing. The manufacturer's set these cards to stable levels before shipping, they don't really have anyway of ensuring the clock speeds after a year or two. Your hardware degrades causing these exact problems you're posting about do to instability in the silicone. the way to fix this is to lower the clock speeds.. Hope this helps.

Just lost my 2nd hc char this league in like 1 week, and tried your fix and it didnt work. This gotta be sorted out because the problem is not on my end, all my other games are working fine. BUMP!

I was changing all those bars around and i think this core/memory clock fixed it for me not sure how or why but i can play again without crashes.
We don’t want trade to be too convenient. We’ve seen what happens in other games, and also in our own game, when trade is too easy. It lets people bypass content way too quickly,” - Chris.

I've had this problem for a while and fixed it by putting my DirectX Version in settings to DirectX 11 Beta, non of the other things worked for me.
Since i've done that i haven't gotten a black screen yet for the past 4 days.
look at the post above this one

So when i click on my directX versions in options i dont have a Beta 11 choice on the list. I have 4 choices Auto/directx 11/ Directx 9 and directx 9ex.

I also have this problem. Randomly when playing i get black screen the GPU goes full fan speed and the computer is basically locked. This computer is brand new and a beast. POE should be easy for this comp spec to run. No issue on any other game at all.

Specs
Falcon North West rig,

Intel Core i7-7700k @ 4.20 GHz
32 gig ram
windows 10 (64 bit operating system)
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 Ti
240hz monitor
1 TB solid state drive
4 TB Storage drive

Its not my rig thats the issue.
I've had the same thing happen about 10 times today. Updated my drivers restarted the computer and everything. Randomly while playing my second monitor will go black and a second later my primary monitor goes black for 3-5 seconds and then works just fine.

Specs

i7 7700k
16 gigs ram
1TB SSD
Nvidia Geforce GTX 980 TI SC+
Asus VG248QE 144hz monitor x2 (second monitor hooked up through HDMI, primary is dual DVI)
Windows 10 64 bit

I play PUBG, CSGO, and WoW with no issues but when I play PoE I get this black screen issue. I have disabled Post Processing, Screen Shake, Engine Multithreading, Vsync. I play with all other settings set to as low as they get.

If you are experiencing no signal and you hear sound from windows like unplugged hardware (sometimes it freeze or loop depend on hardware) than your PSU is not providing enough power (ofcourse if you eliminated driver problem). You have to buy new one. You can use afterburner to limit power limit or force constant voltage if u have msi card. Other options like, limiting fps, lowering gpu and memory clock work ofc too. Drained PSU with time providing still less and less energy until such a thing will occure in whatever game.

There is chance that memory module on graphic cards is burned at some address, but its very very rare.

You can also turn off one core in bios if u have 4, but keep hyperthreading.

ps: there are games, that has no problem at all with consuming same amount of energy all time for exmaple Grim Dawn, League of Legends, but games like Alien Isolation, PoE (more power at once especially on lockstep), Witcher 3, Skyrim withn ENB, can drain a lot of power at some point and PSU fails..

Would older video cards use more power and also cause this?

It's not loss of signal, I can still hear my in game sounds and I have a 800 watt PSU which is more then capable of powering my rig. I have reinstalled drivers multiple times. I changed to predictive network and it stopped for over a day but just now while playing it did it again. I've been playing on this rig since April with no issues until one of the more recent patches. Also like I said I can play WoW, PUBG, H1Z1, Destiny 2, CSGO, etc without having any issues. The problem only happens while playing PoE which means it is something related to PoE.

Loss signal means - your monitor is not receiving signal (input or whatever you want to call it) from graphic card. PSU is exhausted and is not able to power supply ur graphic card so it is turned off by sytem (like unplugged), while all other things work normally, therefore you can speak with people on team speak or you can hear your game, but your monitor is like in stand by mode. No matter how strong PSU is, if it has for example 80% guaranteed power, it is loosing power by using. Its common thing.

Hardware components under load usually take constant power, but cpu/gpu are much more flexible - can consume more or less depends on what they do. For example if you have afterburner, you can see in graph gpu load (or how many watts take ventilator etc. - which if have to cool gpu, take more power as well). Sometimes during fights you can see that graphic card took even more than 120% instead of 100% (default). You can make log from such sessions as well, so when monitors turns off, simply reset computer and check this log but also check cpu log as they can consume more power both at same time, or one or another.
