Difference between Streamers and RMT?
A Realmoneytrader pays a sum of money to a player to let him find specific items you want to have. This is not allowed in the game, its fine, so nobody can buy character with RMT.
Streamers stream videos for their follower and the follower pay with items for the streams, so the streamer becomes stronger due to the fact of the "free" items they get. This is allowed and cant understand why this is allowed. Streaming is also a kind of RMT. Or better service and demand. A RMTrader gets an item for paying cash. A Streamer gets an item for his Streamservice (and he even gets cash aswell). So why i have to do streaming to get items, but iam not allowed to pay cash the get the same items? |

You do not have to stream OR RMT to get items in path of exile, thousands of us get by just fine without doing either... just so you know.

You're debating "good" vs. "evil".
It's pointless. RMT is evil and streamers are good. That's the views of the society we're participating in and that's the values on which the rules are based. It's that simple. You might not have the same values, but you have to live in a world that doesn't share your values. Here's some help: The streamer "earns" his respect in the context of the game, while the RMTer "earns" his outside of the game. That's a difference that you can see. |

1) There's a difference between paying money for items, and having things given to you by legitimate players because you're "popular".
2) I highly doubt most streamers get free handouts from their viewers. 3) There's no stream out there that "requires" you to give them items for you to watch. 4) Streamers are entertainers. Some do it full time, if they are good enough at it, for their sole source of income. See, you saying that Streamers being given items by viewers is RMT is like saying the fact me and my friends give each other items free is RMT. EDIT: And, I'm well-aware he's most-likely referencing "that dude". "You go on pretending that you own the universe, And we'll all be here watching as you're falling down to Earth." Yes, there is a difference.
Streamers have a direct benefit on the game by creating free advertising and popularity for the developers. The benefit is that viewers can vicariously play the endgame through the streamer, but it also creates an incentive for them to play more because they see new builds and want to experience them personally. The downside is that the streamer gets an advantage over other players, but this does not adversely affect other players if the streamer prices their goods fairly to the average person. RMT creates an indirect disadvantage on the game by allowing players to skip to endgame without supporting or playing. This causes players to quit playing sooner because they have reached endgame and run out of new content to run. The sooner they quit, the less likely they are to support the devolopers directly since they will not progress through the game normally which leads to many necessities such as stash tabs. RMT companies/individuals are essentially parasites in this sense who are generating income off the success of the genre and inexperienced arpg players who don't understand that the journey to endgame *is* the endgame, and if they skip to the end of the game they're missing the vast majority of the experience as it was designed. which streamers are you referring to? Taking items and freebees from viewers is greatly frowned upon by the streaming community, you get called out big time if you do this in any meaningful fashion, ggg are strongly against it and so is the community at large. You wont ever see people like zenocide, ziggy etc taking freebees from people and they will openly condemn such behavior at every opportunity.
I love all you people on the forums, we can disagree but still be friends and respect each other :)

" Woah Woah Woah You and your friends give each other items for free?!?!? Guilds must do that too we need to shut them down. They give away items like candy. :) I need a signature to look legit

Being a good streamer takes passion, time, gaming hardware, character, skill and natural voice quality. If you have all of these qualities in you and have all of them better than ZiggyD and Willywonka, I do not mind giving you some exalts too.

It's amazing to see people says "streamers are good players, they are on the top, that's why people follow them and give them items and currencies"
nah dude, they are on the top because they have free items and currencies. It's like Etup on tempest, this guy have everything he needs to up because he has many followers who give him items. He grind to lvl 100 easy, because he had support curse char in his party and some incinerates boys to do the hard content for him, he had many viewers who gave him huge amount of currencies. [Removed by Support] When you see, in like, 3-4 days, he had already a taste of hate, 5L LC (6L 2 days later) a 650+ PDPS 2H axe, a headunter some days later (now he has two headhunter) But who cares? he's a streamer, he's cool ! And what abouts streamers who don't stream sometimes, and then, they up the stream and BAM, full stuff char from nowhere "olol i was just lucky" yay sure, like the dude (don't remember the name sorry) who died in HC, he makes a new char (he had not so many currencies in his chest, like, 10EX worth) and BAM, two days later, gg wp, lvl 85+ with full mjolner stuff on his char (voll's devotion, mjolner, romira's, taste of hate etc...) When buying stuff off of RMT websites you are directly supporting botters and dupers (if they exist). When being a popular streamer you're getting free stuff from legitimate players. That's a huge difference imo.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
