How to farm exalted orbs?

There is actually a methodology to farming currency in this game.

Stay within the level range otherwise you lose potential currency drops.

Telling someone to farm anywhere is midleading. They might go farm cruel Hillock for currency at lvl60 and be losing out on drop rate.

I believe the formula is to stay within 3 levels + 1 level for every 16 character levels.

What happens when you are level 90+?

Best place to farm currency is maps, since you dont get the penalty and you get the quantity bonus. Everything else is a waste of time. Blue 66 - 70 are good enough.

There's also a maximum level(somewhere around 68ish) that your character will ever be treated as for this calculation, which means you can farm most of act 3 merciless with no penalty at all(and a pretty insignificant one for the first few zones) no matter how high a level you actually are.

Step one: Find a fertile plot of land with nearby fresh water. I suggest Tora's hideout near the waterfall, but Catarina's hideout has plenty of rainfall and would work fine (just remember to clear out the mushrooms once in a while)

Step two: Plant an orb of augmentation. Some people will insist that you need 5 augments connected by 4 fusings, but really you just need the one.

Step three: Give it time to grow. Typically it takes 300-500 hours of you ignoring it while in maps. You will know it is time to harvest when you hear a triumphant ding and see the words "exalted orb" on the floor of your map.

Step four: Left click on the words "exalted orb"

Step five: Spend it all in one place.

Step six (optional): Throw mouse out the window in frustration.

Get someone else to farm them for you.

Go farm trade window.

The only 100% accurate statement in this post. And also what PoE is based on.

What you do is go to poe.trade and start searching for rings like

res
maybe some life
maybe regen
maybe weapon elemental
maybe es
maybe dex or str or int

not all at once cos they cant all roll but you get idea high tier numbers of those stat

Oh you mean in game? I played a lot only found three of them. Waste of time playing for exalts ime. I prefer to spend my time just playing through and not grinding for loot. Loots much more efficient ways to get it. In descending order of profitability I'd say. Flipping > MFing dom > regular grinding.
