So is this the dual-wielding fixes we've been waiting for?
My Glacial Hammer build is absolutely in love with this change. To be honest, I think the new hot sex this time around is going to be Duelists (or builds that reach for the Dervish cluster) using Ungil's Gauche or Prismatic Eclipse as stat sticks. This can be done with either double strike (which defaults to the main hand anyway), or by using incompatible skills, such as Glacial Hammer to avoid using the offhand as a weapon.
With Dervish, PE and UG are like shields on steroids and far outclass anything you could possibly put in your offhand, assuming you have the correct skill setup. IGN: Ikimashouka, Tsukiyattekudasai, DontCallMeMrFroyo

Then, let's take a look at shield node clusters. Next to dervish lays a shield cluster for 10% block. On top of the natural shield block chance + defence increase. Requires 3 points as well. Then let's take a look at the less popular shield and DW block nodes/clusters around the tree... P.S. DW still sucks bad, as balance team is completely lost. There's no reason to celebrate, or build around DW. Because nothing has changed. They missed to touch the major issues that still make DW unattractive, compared to 1h/shield combo, or even 2h. "In your rant you forgot to include the new buff to phys damage that came with this patch (the whole point of this thread) and the attack speed bonus that dual wield always got. You fixate on how a shield will give you more defenses..... well no shit sherlock. Dual wielding is supposed to be about being more offensive first and foremost. Also your comments about the balance team are complete bullshit. ARPG's always have balance problems and poe is no different. Considering that poe has more complexity than any other arpg I think they do a pretty good job. |
