Hit detection and hit boxes seriously needs some work. Videos and Images included!

I am glad to know I am not the only one noticing it and finding a bit awkward. :)

Nevertheless, I will be posting some more footage and images from other Action RPGs which are 3D and have this isometric view.

I hope these new images show that you can still have a realistic physics and perspective to the game and maintain the old gaming and common sense habit of shooting and seeing your projectile go where your cursor is.
We are not playing archery range where we have to take into account velocity, angle, wind and height of our arrows to make it hit bullseye.

We are playing a computer game with a top down isometric view like hundreds more we have played and that is breaking out the immersion by using a strange "feet line of sight" instead of the eyes of the character in game.

I sincerely hope this can be looked at, because certainly I am not the only one who noticed this design flaw.

Lastly, I would like to ask those people defending this decision, to kindly point me to an action RPG game (typical "diablo clones" or anything) that has a similar system like this one.
I would really like to see and analyse it.

Thanks!
Instead of changing the game to be just like every other ARPG, why not try and adapt to it? I had problems with the aiming system on my ranger at first, too. Ten years of D2 will do that to a guy, but it only took me a few hours to adjust. Do we really want PoE to become the next generic hack n slash?

Edit: Also, try changing 'Force Stand Still' to space bar. Leaves your fingers on Q,W,E,R and thumb on space. This made it exponentially easier to aim and use skills w/o wierd hand acrobatics.

I am not avert to changes, quite the contrary, but there are some things where you should just leave it as it is. If it works and works well, just leave it.

What happened here is a total change which brings nothing to the table except confusion.

Can you imagine now Quake or other FPS games having a "realistic" no cursor aim approach, where you should always calculate without a guide where the bullets will land or hit?

Sure, it would make it "real world" realistic, but we are not playing a simulator here.

The fact that in a fast paced action RPG game you need to aim at the feet to hit the chest and above, is just awkward and silly.

And as for the keybinds, I use a customized keyboard (which in my opinion is the best gaming keyboard in the world), here:

This layout makes playing any games a total pleasure and ergonomically fit for your natural hands/fingers position. But this is of course beside the thread's main point.

Anyways, after I finish some work I am doing I will be posting some comparisons with the trajectories using different classes, weapons and spells. :)
I had a keyboard like that but it was a little better. I was pretty much the same except with 0-9 instead. It had 2 rows above the movement keys. I think it was called the Merc gaming keyboard.

In which height is your cursor in 3D environment?
In all the pictures I see you don't have the mob even targeted.. I don't care where you arrow goes if your not targeting the mob then your lost.
Quite understandable, I'm fairly certain I'm in the minority that like PoE's aiming system better, guess we'll have to agree to disagree. Also, my other half is furious with you for showing me that keyboard, as now I need one.

I will answer the question for you: it's at 0 height.
Why is it at zero? Just because. It's a pure definition. You could say its at 1 meter or 2. But what would be the sense of that?

So its at 0 hight and what would be the consequence if the arrow goes to the cursor? You would shoot to the ground and that would be, well, stupid.

You missed the point! (pun intended)

Having fun includes NOT having to fight the interface. The current system is just "bad" in the sense that it adds unjustified difficulty in controlling your character.

In diablo 2 and titan quest every ranged skill shot you used traveled in the direction of your cursors, whether you targeted a mob or not.

In POE every ranged skill shot you use travels above your cursor by up to 2 cm. Skills don't go where you tell them to. Frustration.
Arbitrary placeholder decisions should never be embraced as final.
Out of curiosity, why are people posting about him not targeting the enemy? For a character like the ranger one of the most inefficient ways to attack/be mobile is to put your cursor on what you want to hit.

With ranged classes I typically will stutter step. Click about a ¼” in the direction that I would like to move and then quickly click ¼” in the direction I would like to shoot my arrow.

Will I not be able to do this till my accuracy increases on my skill tree? Or is does Path of Exile not even enable this style of play?

Also, can someone link me or explain to me what Accuracy Node on the skill tree actually effects.

Edits* Yah the keyboard is crazy lol.
