CPU or GPU

Hey everybody i was looking to upgrade my computer a bit as atm the game doesnt feel so smooth , my fps drops at big parties and i have lags sometimes.I would like to run PoE as good as possible so i want to know what should i aim for.I dont know too much about computers :P so i am wondering which is more important for this game the CPU or the GPU ? I have a nvidia geforce 9500 gt and athlon amd 64x2 dual core 4400+.

Game? Who needs to play the game? Forums are funny enough

GPU first.

If you find loading slow - CPU is the answer.

Hopes this helps

Completely incorrect.

CPU is much more important for this game than GPU. Especially if your fps drops in parties than that's mostly due to your CPU.
i have to disagree, my laptop has a i5 3210m with a radeon 7670, (although it may be this stupid intergrated card playing this game at times)that can barely play act 3 on ultra low graphics and a desktop with a pentium g processor and GTX 660ti graphics card that can play max graphics without lag at all.
My laptop has horrible spikes even with the low settings.

I'd have to say the GPU is more important than cpu for this game
Both. Both are equally bad and both will just bottleneck regardless of what you upgrade.
You'll need a good setup of all three: fast hd (ssd to prefer!) for loading times, good gpu for the visuals and resolution and fast cpu for handling of the mas of effects - especially if you play in groups.

Thing is, the gpu load can be 'controlled' to some degree by disabling effects in the option and/or choosing a smaller screen resolution. Hint: playing fullscreen is less load than windowed cause the its the only calculated 'layer'.

For the cpu is high clockrate more important than more cores.

I havent seen anyone mention RAM yet!!!

I had a Gtx560 and it still ran games like crap because I was stuck at 3Gb.

The best video card cant be utilized unless you have enough RAM. Go for at least 8Gb.

Yeah I know that. But his GPU is horrible.

Keep in mind, when you upgrade a gfx card, make sure it can fit in your case, and make sure your power supply is putting out enouh juice to support it.
