The Monkey Slam

Omg, I quit like 3 weeks ago for similar reasons, and from what I can see here, you’re just barking.By the way, I saw the picture of your currency that you posted - compared to me, you had nothing. That’s proof you’re just a big mouth with no skill or game knowledge, defending every idiotic decision made by the devs.

Is having a lot of currency a skill measure? Or game understanding measure? Or even fun measure? For someone may be...

This wouldn't be an issue if GGG didn't make all maps have bosses in 0.3.1. Back when bosses were optional, they were still jank, but we could at least tolerate it or deal with it somehow. Now, if you don't like bossing, PoE2 is no longer a game for you. They actually understood this before; Back in the 0.1 days, I remember them saying in an interview that if you don't like bossing or certain bosses, you could avoid them, roughly 75% of the time.

This is purely a 0.3.1 problem.

Well ARPGs are mostly singleplayer games, and the fact you have to make universal character that should do good against both bosses and hordes of whites is kinda game point.
You can use PoE2 features like second weapon set/tree to switch between bossing/clear modes etc. I found that interesting.
Or playing with a friend who can take care of bosses, if you can't kill them yourself.

At first i also didn't like the change for bosses in every map, because that change made poe2 more like poe1 and i was afraid that bosses couldn't be challenging with this change.
Monke is fine

you can 100% ignore him on maps
d:-D*
Zekoa the ball crusher 1 hits me through 10k ES and 10% armor (not a great deal but no pushover either). Definitely responsible for around 50% of my total deaths to bosses. Occasionally even if you roll the right way his trajectory of the dark red attack changes instantly to coincide to the direction you are rolling to and it becomes an auto-hit. GG
You pretty much have to treat it like the big fluffy flappy bird and NOT roll and continue moving in an anti-clockwise direction (Why ACW? apparently harder to track that way) to get around him to set up that juicy shot. The boss arena's obstacles can also be a pain if you're trying to navigate and watch his wind up at the same time. edit: This is for the Rupture map

Pyle - how do we ignore him in .3.1b ?

Maybe I lack experience then. Care to elaborate how Stun treshold helps against one shot?

With decent Stun threshold you won't be stunlocked by regular hits, so you can dodge the slam.
If you're ES user, you definitely need some Stun Threshold from ES.

I was killed by first strike trying to abroach him. Zekoa on the maps comes at you from the other side of the arena and there is no protecting obstacles.

It's not hard, and it's the same with every single mob, hold the roll. You arn't ment to roll as soon as you get a que, most mob/boss slams can be walked away from w/ a possible emergency roll towards the end of ability if needed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G5gUv4xsgys

If the player in this clip had moved at all to the side, a roll behind towards the end would get them out of the slam cone. They died because they didn't move. You are ment to die from a heavy slam with sloppy play because it's easily avoidable (requires no es/hp).

If something is avoidable 9 times out of 10 it will kill you (Zaccie mentioned something to this effect recently).

Uhhh no
just NO

you are wrong
you are mistaken

I was gonna post a thought but it got monkey slammed out of my mind 3/4ths of the way to completion so I will try to think again tomorrow.

maybe i'm blind.

looks like dude is still in front of monke when he's 1-shot. he didn't move until a too-late roll.

shoulda been mobile to begin with and the roll was too-late either ways. i h8 monke bonk too. but player isn't innocent in this case.
Don't get lost by being so focused on the target that you forget to enjoy your surroundings.

=)

I still think the issue is the arena.
I have no problem with him otherwise or with the yeti one.

I arrive, i ear him charging but i dont see him. Than sometimes it's too late to dodge or you dodged wrong direction.
I think they should just put him spawn closer to the entrance or not allow him to start with the slam.

IMO the slam is only a slight problem in Hardcore. It's completely under the control of the player to dodge this. Personally I have never considered the monkey remotely challenging until I saw how often hardcore players died to it.

Just practice until you never get hit by the slam.
