If you're not building your pure evasion character to even survive 1 non-boss attack, why even use evasion in the first place? Of course you're going to die, you have a small health pool so even deflection won't help you.
2k is low ?
3k is low?
I had both no difference in maps and no difference on bosses
Also whit 3k life i had to secrifice evasion so it went below 80%
And u still get one tapped by bosses
So where is the point ?
Bosses almost never miss and most their atks are aoe
Deflection is nice but rarely saves ur ass from boss hit its mostly useful for mapping
If u could reach 4k life ++ it could be very nice but not whit 2-3 k
And even then the 4 k life would be useless if u sacrificed evasion and deflection in order to get it
Dude hybrid eva+es one tapped very often whit 1.8 life + 4.5k es so how would the evasion survive?🤣
We need life nodes on our passive tree .
I don't know what to tell you. I don't die to boss attacks unless it's the telegraphed red attack which can't be evaded. I think this is good game design and frankly, builds with armour and ES should be one-tapped by these as well. Endgames that revolve around repeating story mobs and bosses ad infinitum means that eventually, everyone should be able to learn boss patterns and no-hit them every time. Either that, or kill them in 0.2 seconds. It's unfortunate that those builds can just sit there and tank even red attacks. Thankfully, these are easy to avoid. I can't say I die to non-red boss attacks at all with pure evasion.
I died today twice to a regular boss attack on my ssf evasion build in 1 hit on t15 4 mod map
This kind of thing should not be a thing
Its one thing to die to a red attack but not regular attacks

You can find it on poe2.ninja; I won't link to it directly because that feels a little rude, but given that OP has been super passive aggressive with people and thrown shade at GGG for their lack of testing I do feel compelled to say that it has absolutely nowhere near any of the numbers they've quoted in this thread in terms of health and evasion.
This is just another instance of someone playing SSF and then getting impatient and frustrated after realizing how tedious progression is, but instead of reconsidering their decision to play SSF they come here to demand that GGG redesign it.

Oh, I missed where OP said they were SSF. Yeah I could see that. I paused my progression for a while and just grinded the same tier of maps (area level 80) until I had more than 1 deflection affix on my equipment. Playing SSF will have you do that, especially if you need omens/essence to craft stuff more deterministically.

Deflect = reduce damage by 40%
Evasion = reduce damage by 100% and evade stun/ailment/on-hit debuff
Both stats doesn't increase how much damage you can survive per hit, only reduce need for life recovery! 80% evade reduce your need to heal in long fights by 80% thus flasks and charms can be squeezed 5 times more. Same for recoup, lifesteal and other recovery effects. Simple!
Resistances and armor do the same, but works also for short fights and increase how huge hit you can take. So armor/resistances > evade > deflection.
Deflect is buff to evasion and basically works similar as maximum resistances for it. It allows you to evade slightly more than 80% of damage that you can do with pure evasion. But... it further doesn't increase evading statuses, because it would be too op and making us almost invicible to stun etc. So, we can evade more than 80% damage, but only 80% statuses.
Game is all about high life/es/mana pool, resistances and how to recover them. Its pretty simple. Those 2 stats are here only as alternative way how to prevent statuses and reduce need for recovery. It doesn't help in short fights, only ocasionally to save some flask and charm charges when you are lucky.
In current "kill everything on screen" and "burst boss" meta it is not viable. Not because it is bad stat, but because there is no use for it. It can be awesome for ev/es hybrid, because it prevent es not recovering and armor/es because when you are doing tank build, it further decrease need for recovery. armor/ev/es hybrid should theoreticaly be best for evasion, but... we are kinda limited in stats and only triple defense item i know is regalia.
And I thought everyone knows golden rule of all aRPG games. Accuracy/Evasion are like saffron. You need only a pinch.

Game is all about high life/es/mana pool
I have exactly none of those things. Love where ar/ev is at right now.

Why do I feel like I see these posts from the same folks who turn around and criticize the game for "lacking build variety" like they're not the ones actively contributing to that by telling everyone there's only one right way to play the game?
Like ar/ev didn't make your list of viable builds but it worked fantastically well for me this League. I had no trouble 100%'ing all content and honestly the game would start getting boring if I were any tankier.

I don't know what to tell you except that your opinions about PoE1 aren't actually universally understood rules of the entire ARPG genre.

The way it is now, EV will always remain prone to one-shots cause it's just another die roll and you can still fail to deflect.
Long story short, don't build pure EV if you hate one-shots i guess ?
Yes, obviously. 100%. By "the way it is now" are you sure you don't mean "the way it has always been and should be because that's what Evasion means by definition?"
Euhm. Why do you expect me to repeat what i already stated just before that ?
"
God almighty can one of you just tell me what you actually expect out of a "pure Evasion" build? Evasion is a chance to avoid 100% of the damage, so of course it's not going to work 100% of the time. Right? Like can we agree that if you can evade 100% of every attack forever that you're not playing a game anymore, yes? That's just an idle/clicker that's displaying some colorful pixels on your screen to distract you from whatever comes next in your life...
Evasion fails sometimes. So a "pure Evasion build" is also going to fail sometimes. I legitimately don't understand what else any of you expect to be true.
I don't know which people you're referring to here of whose you're disliking the expectations, but since you were replying to my post : I'm not 'expecting' anything. Just replying, offering some information and debating options for things OP leveraged as their issues with EV today.
In general, i agree with you that EV is at it's core, intended as win or lose and never was meant to be played as the sole means of defense, but was curious whether the deflect introduction changed that due to it having an automatic tie-in to EV

1) at least one of your jewels has the corruption for immunity to maim OR
instill maim+hinder immunity passive on an amulet.
Thanks, I was pathing to the no maim on deflect node, but your approach is probably better. In SSF, so not sure when I can swing it, but hey.
I already have Chakra of Sight; I agree with that too.
Great. Glad to help. Good luck with the build !
