If the map bosses are not nerfed for next season, there will be a HUGE drop in player count.
Exp on death and 1 portal is insanely punishing, i farmed all day yesterday and got 30% into 96 on my way to 97 with my SSF char, i can do t4 all pinnacle content. but i come across two zekora headcrushers and was set back to 0% progress who instantly removed my 2k es + hp and 73% evasion/deflection pathfinder from existence. its just not fun tbh. its crazy that map bosses are more dangerous than uber artbiter. and its not like i have a lot of options to improve my character, the omens to craft or make upgrades are insanely rare an impossible to obtain, i have 400 hours on SSF and ive had maybe 2 omen of light. ontop of white bases just not dropping because you need 125%+ rarity to get currency is a really big downside to end game. also after 400 hours and 100s of maps ive still not gotten all 3 citadels, literally found 2 which was duplicate lol.

" They always spawn by 3 now, they're 100% not far of the first you found. So if you got dupe you prob have 6 around. They changed that in june or something. I always have them together but need to move some more nodes to see the others. SSF player

" Thanks ill look around them. ive hit a brick wall with my SSF progress and its pretty demotivating, esp if i run into zekora and lose all my exp.... im sitting on several maybe good crafts that i just dont got the mats to finish, not for lack of trying. but because literally omens do not exist. even king of the mist farming produces basically nothing usable. also with the rarity im required to run to get good currency drops, i can no longer get white bases to augment/transmute so i have over 400 t2/t3 aug and transmutes that i cant use..... and even if you get an omen of light you need to wait for an omen of echoes, because usin a roll without it esp if you had to use a light is stupid. ive also seen 0 ancient ribs/jawbones. Ive run ritual and abyss maps on everything for weeks now with no results. |

" I can understand the frustration. I play SSF also only. I'm back to standard cause i have unfinished business there that motive me more than the new league =) So i dont know about thoose new omens, i got some with my league charactere and i think i wasted them lol I'm running maps with 10% rarity on one ring, i wish i would have roll something more usefull. I do get enough to upgrade my gears and try on some stuffs. That is counting greater exalted. I never got any perfect exalted. I get omens at rituals, the new one that give same roll as what on the gear. So i use them when i get a T1 roll i wanted with my greater exalt. It's still gambling for sure and can be depressing. I do believe that there is a bit too much focus on rarity in the talk on the net atm. RNG is still there, i dont think rarity is that much mandatory. When i get multiple good drops on my maps i check the rarity on the map description and most of the time it's like 15% or whatever. Last fractured orb i got was in a hideout clearing it fast with a T1 map just to pass. It's all random and RNG still. Rarity might help but i'm def convinced it's not mandatory. Now again to mention for rituals omen, as i said, that is in standard, i had loads of tablets there. I do believe there is a tablet drop rate problems specialy for rituals. But yeah i do rituals on about every maps and get the good omens now and than. I have a whittling waiting atm for me to get it when i'll get the favour. All that without any rarity on gear. I might even use it to remove the 10% rarity on my ring for something better because it's a very good ring i managed to slowly craft so far. SSF is super grindy, that is why i love it. Require you to go again and again. Dont focus too much on rarity and go again is my humble advice. I'm trying to get lvl 100 so for boss death i just removed my atlas points for now. They're like before and die very fast. If you struggle with them without atlas points than you might want to check at your passive tree or so to see what you could change for more DPS because at lvl 97 you should be destroying them i think. The monkey is special tough =) He's too random when you enter the arena and can just slam you the first second without you seeing him. I skip him using lower waystone or white maps. PS: Also do your logbooks. Can be very good for currencies. SSF player Dernière édition par BlastYa#4875, le 19 oct. 2025 à 11:57:19

" Ya you are the typical kind of casual gamer I believe GGG is trying to target with POE2; you might be someone who does not spend hours optimizing gears, looking through trades and guides, and you just want to put a build together and have fun blasting. However, their recent design choices have just made the game next to unplayable for players like you. |

my prediction we will not spend as much time on a season. AT 96 on 3 toons there is no way im risking a boss fight every map for the time it would take to get the same xp back (even with the omen). Hate to think of what that would have been like to get that far if we had this from the start.
Personally if it does not change, I am just going to play a meta build and dip once the risk management overshadows the enjoyment. |

Wanted to bump.
Pretty much everything he said is accurate. For meta builds, this won't be a huge issue. Deadeye's won't be losing any sleep. But anything that isn't a high-tier, high damage, meta build can't get through even basic maps now. I get the challenge they face. If they nerf them, then it makes it easier for higher-tier builds, if they leave it, it pretty much kills build variety. We'll see what they come up with. |

" Remove your Atlas points on + to boss level and they should be very easy to do. I do bosses on t15 maps with an off meta warrior build I made recently, 1 div worth of gear or maybe not even that They're easier than a rare monster without the Atlas tree points Dernière édition par iHiems#0168, le 19 oct. 2025 à 15:25:56

" The point of this post was not to tell people how to progress by making the game easier for themselves. The point is that, while the game is NOT balanced at all, this sort of game design decision is gonna make off meta build suffer ALOT more while it almost does nothing to the meta builds. My example was switching from spear to bow as an amazon was night and day difference during mapping. I don't think newer players would appreciate the fact that spending 200 D on any build is still gonna prevent you from progressing. Before the game is truly balanced, not forcing players into fighting bosses as the ONLY way to complete a map might be the better way to move forward. I really don't get why GGG is such a fan on "taking away choices". Like why couldn't player just have both killing rare and bosses as the objective of mapping? Was a reason to limit the choice to just one? |

" But it doesn't. The boss drops are worthless anyway, there's barely any reason to use boss level unless you want the challenge I'm not against them making bosses optional or making bosses drop better stuff, but neither is the case and you're arguing for them to nerf bosses instead. Many people, including me, have been asking forever for bosses to be buffed because the end game didn't have any challenge. Right now it can't be considered a challenge to my main build, but I can at least have fun with off meta As I said, you can remove the boss Atlas points if you don't care about the challenge, there's no reason to nerf bosses unless you think the boss Atlas points are mandatory to be used |
