If the map bosses are not nerfed for next season, there will be a HUGE drop in player count.
It seems to me the bosses are really balanced for the campaign or whatever their base without mods is only. With mods I feel like a lot of them are kind of a joke because they are already designed as such if you don't do mechanics you will be punished without them. On top of that while you can get some beefy defenses it's nothing like PoE 1. We simply aren't able to scale our defenses high enough to counter balance that. This is my bad take enjoy.

" Take is good - this is exactly the case -> boss damage is tuned according to campaign (levels only). Add map mods (and in some cases, abyss holes), and that can escalate to instadeath very easily with those bosses where dodging everything is hard -> e.g. tornado bird. This is a non issue for builds which can oneshot bosses. But anyone playing with suboptimal gear (especially SSF + HC), this is a problem. This is non-trivial to balance though, as it requires a decision on which game mode the balancing is made for. |

I run ES+Contagion build this league, and like many people I noticed the bosses became more annoying... For me that's it, a bit more annoying... I still kill them and salt their ashes...
I am just not doing maps because at this point any minor improvement costs at least 100 diva... The return on investment is very very low... If the campaign was skippable after having a 95+ char, I would probably try other builds, but I really don't feel like going through the campaign anymore. Overall, though it became more annoying, it's also an opportunity for people to improve... And I do agree with someone on a previous reply, delirium does get things sweaty some times 😈 Right now, what could mitigate this would be being able to do a map normally after failing it... Thats just my opinion, for me, the difficulty seems ok... This for trade league... I don't play heroic, so keep that. In mind, my opinion is trade league locked. |

" Exactly my point. Previously, some mapping-oriented builds can be played to a certain degree, and those builds could be swapped to solo target during maps with bosses. However, right now, bosses are just much more difficult compared to before, and if you did not begin the game by choosing one of those well-rounded meta builds, you will be screwed once you hit endgame. |

Yeah no, 0.3.1 buffed bosses for sure. In 0.3.0, they died super quick even with all 10 boss passives allocated. Now they are exceptionally sturdy as if I was back in act content. They're even tankier with the "powerful boss" modifier.
I understand bosses needed to be buffed, but that should've been saved for the "powerful boss" modifier. Now clearing maps feel like a slog as I have to spend a lot more time just to kill the boss. PoE players: Our game has a wide diversity of builds. Also PoE players: The [league mechanic] doesn't need to be nerfed, you just need to play a [current meta] build! I had two es/contagion characters this patch farming t15s and never encountered any hard bosses except arbiter who ended my second ever hcssf run at lvl 92. Not even 2 days playtime. Way too easy this patch. Or is es/con crazy op?

" Bosses are simply not that hard. They are a bit harder. Some of the citadel uber boss felt hard with juiced maps but nothing insane. Overall this game is really easy. Deadeye can 2 shot uber arbitrer and 1 shot any pinnacle. Now thats op, not your build. I don't play deadeye because the game becomes a pure joke if you do. Bosses can oneshot if you have the altas boss difficulty nodes. With the nodes unspecced you have to try to die vs them.
eg. Monkey boss red slam only does like 4k damage in a T15 36% delirious map which almost any build can tank. This is with the nodes unspecced. He's hit me a few times, that's how I know. With just 2 of the difficulty nodes his damage shoots up to around 10k. With 4 nodes it's even higher. These will one shot most builds. |

" Exactly the problem here. Before GGG has gotten the balance right, people will be more likely forced into playing builds that can actually allow them to progress towards ultra end game. Like I said in my post, I was lucky that I started with a build that allowed me to go all the way towards end game....that said not every player is gonna be that lucky.... especially for people that are gonna be new to the game.... |
