What happened to Engaging Combat? Video Feedback.
What even is engaging combat? Wouldn't that be a range of opinions? Engaging to melee will be different than ranged, and different than spells.
I think a clear set of expectations is the foundation for criticism and feedback. Without that, you are just yelling into the windstorm. |

" They are NOT objective, and Jonathan using the same words doesn't make them objective. "Good" is literally an opinion on fun. They are synonymous when it comes to games. Engaging combat is also NOT an objective statement, and I've already explained why. Many folks find the current endgame of PoE 2 to be "good". Combat in video games has an ENORMOUS breadth of media to draw from: you have text-based combat like zorc. You have imaginary combat like Dungeons and Dragons table games. You have combat like PoE. You have combat like rts games. You have combat like fps games. You have combat like MoBA. I could go on and on. Each and every fan of these genres would consider THEIR genre to have engaging combat. And YES, PoE fans consider the zoom zoom combat to be engaging, even if YOU do not. That is why its not objective.....it is a pure subjective statement of opinion. Jonathan is human, and a gamer: he is not a god. He has his own opinions on what "engaging combat" means too. But that's all it is, an opinion. NOT objective fact. And not even probably the SAME definition of engaging that you hold, although its probably closer to yours than to mine. " LE, POE1, D3, D4 and POE2 post Act2 all do not have combat. |

" Expand on "post act 2". What does that mean? What build were you playing? Why did it suddenly feel different? The game is largely the same from A1 to A2 for me, and I think the game is really well paced through the entire campaign and even into early progression, so I just don't understand what you mean without some kind of specific example that actually happened to you that I can relate to. |

" I have literally asked the other posters in this thread for this no less than 4x now.....and have been met with silence. And I said precisely what you said in the second paragraph: without that definition, we can't even begin to solve the "problem". Because everyone has a completely different opinion on what the problem actually is Starting anew....with PoE 2

" A brilliant, one-line illustration of why the phrase "good and engaging combat" is SUBJECTIVE to each individual. Because ultimately I can't really say you are wrong if that is truly how you feel. I think its a bit of hyperbole, but I have no idea what your idea of "video game combat" even is. Starting anew....with PoE 2 Dernière édition par cowmoo275#3095, le 21 sept. 2025 à 20:51:59

" Yeah, I have been asking everyone exactly what they mean too. It's really easy to agree with the sentiment that the game should have engaging combat throughout it's entirety. It's a lot harder to actually pin down what that is in the ARPG genre and PoE2. |

" no not really man, playing semantics is a fun way to avoid acknowledging the answers you are getting. its pretty clear to me that people are speaking of combat that lets you 'play the game' on a second monitor while watching YT. this thread has 30 pages. official build examples were given, exact points in the game were pin pointed. but many will still come here and refuse to acknowledge any of it. |

" it's funny you accuse others of that when it's your entire post history. game pacing in campaign and early maps is great on sorc with spells, on witch with ed, on xbows. I think monk is weak a1. I got more opinions. What are your actual opinions on the things you have personally experienced? Dernière édition par AverBeg7#1689, le 21 sept. 2025 à 21:09:29

The whole point of an ARPG is to see if you can break the game and make a uber clearing build on whatever ability/class.
The game does have different combat than POE, in that many abilities benefit more heavily from combo-based interactions. Dernière édition par Poiuytr133#2949, le 21 sept. 2025 à 21:09:26
