Going in the right direction, but exp. Loss is pain point

"
it's just a mass case of ego's. i tend to just ignore it. GGG has some overly sized ones too.

It's true.

I see their points too though.

The simple fix is 3 difficulty settings.

1) Hard core as is make it have better loot or XP progress or something
2) Normal with XP loss out the gate level 1 and slightly more XP/Loot
3) Softcore / normal xp move loss to like 90 / Base loot.

The problem is the DIE hards will be upset that someone is playing at a lower difficulty than them and therein lies the problem and is exactly as you stated a POWERFUL EGO that places their experience on others. In all games with Live service all I've ever seen is loud over achievers demanding how it should be for others. I cut my leg to experience pain, you should too!!!

Aside from the hubs/economy and loot being better in a party, this is at its core a single player game. Why not accomodate all 3 player types?

I speak strongly for XP loss and against people who try to get it removed.

If you can't play without dying, you don't deserve XP. If you want it so much, fix your gameplay, fix your build. Play white maps. Play tier1 maps.

If GGG made tier30 maps, and everything one shots, you'd complain about tier30 maps instead of just playing lower tier maps.

Imagine climbing mount everest and complaining its too cold and too high and too dangerous. Why don't you climb a hill instead?

Dying should have harsh punishments. But losing XP is more than just a punishment. it's losing rewards you have already gained.

For example, imagine if dying took away currency items from your stash. The main issue here is not that the punishment is harsh, it's that losing progress you have already made is so bad that it makes you not want to experiment at all. This is a game where you are supposed to come up with new builds and tweaks. And you can't do that because you might lose XP.

If dying just meant you wouldn't get new rewards, you would still be requiring you to play correctly before progressing on the game. But you would be able to experiment and make mistakes without fear of going backwards.

This is what we thought... turns out, maybe its not true at all. It seems GGG is creating and enforcing their builds on us, with little choice to the players at all.
GGG - Why you no?
If deaths were not like they are it wouldnt even be such an issue. Half the time I'm dead for no indication visually wtf even killed me because there are 50 layers of effects on the screen. Been killed so many times thinking I could finally loot a rare mob only to have some stupid effect go off to laugh at me for thinking I got loot.

And it's not so much BUILD as it is GEAR.

It is so easy when you have a powerful char and have things from before the market has exploded and say things like gear/build.

Try and get said gear now.

In .1 I was blasting T15 maps having a blast.

Now I'm stuck in T5 and caught between a rock and a hard place, between the loot upgrade and an exploded market. Can't even gear my char to appease the one shot mechanics.

Health flasks are fukn pointless in this game. It's not even about Git Gud. I played 650 hours in .1 and had my share of deaths and learning. I brought that over to .2 and it has been HELL, not very fun, last night I got a tiny upgrade purely out of the fact someone wasnt asking 25 div for a weapon that would have been 5ex before. Everything is inflated and expensive.

Its so easy when you HAVE to place bold statements punching down at the people beneath you for struggling because they came after your fortuitous market experience.

I actually SKIP content as a result of this BS... THINK THAT IS FUN? THINK THAT IS GOOD DESIGN???

Last night I decided wth I'd fight the boss in Savanaah (Hyena boss) he wasnt even facing me BOOOOOM dead. No combat log, no idea to learn what happened, what to not do next time. All this game does is whack you, and MANY times it is MEGA CHEESEBALL type of death, not one you can say "boy I screwed that up" no instead its the style like if my wife walked up and stabbed me in the back while I was gaming. That's how these deaths come off. You know why there is no combat log? Because we would see just how poorly tuned some of these things are that's why.

Remove this from the game entirely and exp penalty can stay.

what build?
`Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL
`From just quick sweep of your characters, toxic rain, golems .. sure, non meta... sure.` LOL
`What are divs?`
How does what build matter? His back was to me. Another cheeseball mechanic one shot is all.

Absolutely agree.

A player should be able to make a few mistakes or take some dmg while learning.

Right now it's "Look Squirrel!!!" DEAD
Remove or reduce the 10% XP penalty for death to 5% until you get the servers fixed, the server lag is deadly!!!!
Version 0.1 was great, I curse version 0.2.
GGG Remove the XP penalty before the final version!!!

I would completely agree with this, but yea, considering the game 'basically' fucking cheats you every chance it gets... it should go. But, i know GGG's 'stance' and i'm sure they will chose player exodus over making a move that feels better to most.

It's already began.
GGG - Why you no?
