Going in the right direction, but exp. Loss is pain point

You would still have hardcore mode for your imaginary prestige.

You still have minecraft, and a billion other casual games, for your imaginary "progress".

I think you should lose the map XP and perhaps a little more if you die. The killer is you lose a whole evening’s progress in one shot.
"You don't need to get to level 100, most builds are final at level 90" they say.

yet those same people will spend days or even weeks farming for a piece of gear that'll give them a .5% dmg increase.

Perhaps we should petition GGG to make it so that you can hit level 100 super easy. No XP loss and XP requirements are lowered by around 50% once you hit level 90.

Then make it so that if you're level 100 and you die then a piece of your gear loses one mod. You can use an exalt and get it back, just like you could earn that XP back.

See how long it would take those very same people to piss and moan about "GGG you need to revert this change, I my build is bad now because I lost my 160% phys damage mod because of those stupid volatile plants!!!!!!"
casuals just wanna turn this into a casual game after a long day of work when the intended audience was never meant to be casuals. this game is not without issues, in fact, it has more issues than we've ever had before..... but xp loss is most certainly not one of them.

their idea of progress is 'leveling' but not wanting to be remotely good at it.

i do not know why they insist in playing this game.
`Spent 2 mirrors on my build, but I'm only Level 98.` LOL
`From just quick sweep of your characters, toxic rain, golems .. sure, non meta... sure.` LOL
`What are divs?`
Delevel toons. -1 lvl on 1st death. -2 on 2nd.

Ban people from game who die on HC. Allow access on paid sub.

If you want punishment then make it count instead of some catty footing around with 10% exp loss.
Yes. It's bad and dated game design.
Another reason people quit the game

Nearly 90% of the total POE 2 player base has already gone to other games. You should definitely keep going around and sharing such advice.
The answer is nobody asked for exp loss.

It only exists "because D2 had it". Because ancient MMOs from the 2000s had it, and other games. Because back then that was one of the only ways for devs to inflate playtime instead of making fun content.

Exp loss is outdated game design, that's just a fact. It should be deleted, because the game would only improve with it gone.
How about:

Hardcore: Lose all levels and all your gear.

Standard: Lose what you gained in the map.

Not a hardcore player and never will be...but i would be inclined to play more if I could "finish" my character's progression in a reasonable manner and then spend time with a new one.

The excessive exp loss penalty makes me want to stop playing that day because it feels like i just wasted 2 hours...it already takes a lot of time to gain a level past 90 if you have other responsibilities like...eating sleeping pooping...

Exp loss is fine only if that is the single thing you lose. If you lose NOTHING ELSE but the exp, then its fine.

... It works JUST FINE in PoE1. Do that. WTF you have to invent the wheel AGAIN?
