GGG can you justify why off meta skills were nerfed?

"
if you take the time to read the patch notes, like your screaming everybody should do, you will notice than many of the nerf's aren't about damage, it's about the synergies being broken, or about the secondary effects such as aoe radius, cast or attack speed, hard limiting overlapping fields of aoe. etc etc.

the title of my thread was asking for justification. GGG could put this entire question to rest with one sentence. but they let the flame wars continue between the people who are concerned with the direction this game is heading and people who just want to flame anybody that have a critical opinion.

This is exactly correct, i dont need to see the damage numbers on the Bell because there isnt enough supports they could add to make up for a pentanerf. GGG has a reputation of absolutely murdering skills, will other stuff come out thats broken? sure but there are certainly skills that are now unusable no matter what supports they add
Telling players to wait and see is basically like telling players to waste 40+ hours on a game hoping that when they reach endgame it isn't hot garbage. Except endgame problems were not addressed, simply nerfed, and my time is more valuable. So instead we should *not* play and just wait for the data to be mined and posted so we can spend 15 minutes reading about the new skill properties.

NOBODY KNOWS WHAT DAMAGE SKILLS DO NOW. You don't know if Hexblast was nerfed because you don't know what damage it does. Same for every other skill.

Hexblast was absolutly nerfed and is probably dead even without knowing the damage numbers.

You used Blasphemy support to make your curses into auras then run around hexblasting and blowing up those curses, the new change means you cant even cast hexblast until the curse is at 50% duration remaining, auras have no duration so the primary use function of the skill is just dead.

on top of that curses now take longer to activate, so with these changes if you wanted to run hexblast you have to manually cast say 3 different curses, they each take 1.5 seconds to activate on the target or group then you have to wait until 50% duration of each curse before being able to click your damaging ability.

Hexblast is dead, it doesnt matter what the damage changes are.

Same thing with hammer of the gods, its just dead

maybe there is a a couple of new support gems out of 100 they added that fixes your preconceived problems with hexblast and hammer of the gods spells?

maybe you should, I dunno, WAIT AND SEE???

is there a support that unbricks hexblast?
If so why?
well we can look at PoE1 and see how they have really fun leagues that everyone loves, then they nerf everything we had fun with into the ground and the next league sucks.

Before I just quit playing PoE1 entirely, I used to play a good league, then play a bad league for like a week and quit.

Having said that... To give them the benefit of a doubt, we don't know anything about the all the new skills and uniques they're adding that might synergize with things they're nerfing. It's a bit early to be crying.

Beyond that, it seems clear from the interviews what the devs want the game to be like.

Phrases like "we thought breaches would be players getting overwhelmed with monsters and surviving as long as they can"...

They want us dying. They want us noticing all the work they put into the special abilities of every white mob in the game that the majority don't care about. They don't want us just deleting packs of monsters without even seeing what their attacks look like.

In general they made a lot of comments that can be summed up to the word Immersion. They said a lot of things that makes it seem they want to be more like an RPG in real time than an ARPG and removing the ability to just delete packs off screen is how they think they can achieve that.

Tangent: Like this is why they care so much about not letting us change campaign decisions. ARPGs don't care if you want to repec. RPGs are simulating a person who wouldn't have the ability to go back in time and change something.

Personally I think it's a terrible QoL to have to level 2 characters so you can have one of each ascendancy or have to level a new character if you want to try a Doryani build and need to remove your light res you got in the campaign, or in the 1st league if you wanted to play demonform you had to level a new character and not get the extra life in the campaign.

All of that is kind of ridiculous and a waste of time just to try new builds.

Yet they also insist on 10% exp penalty on death

All the grenade skills
okay wow, even firestorm got a big nerf.
crit chance from 14% -> 7%

I started out with a full ignite build and firestorm was useless compared to comet. And comet's only change is a visual one.

It makes no sense for me. Just have the feeling devs just hate fire skills !!!

Fireball got nerfed cause wildshards (it was previsible), firestorm too even if comet is what firestorm should be imo, fireblast got destroyed and nobody knows why, detonate dead got nerf about fire dmg,... And on top of that, what made some fire skills playable, got (logically) nerfed with archmage nerf.

Ive seen some streamers and good players were trying to play ember or incinerate, they all stopped acte 2 normal difficulty xD

Just Jungroan made a build with ember but it was bad and pretty hard to play with an exploit between ember and wildshards...
