GGG can you justify why off meta skills were nerfed?
" We don't know *which* skills were nerfed and how much, but we do know the intent was for player power to go down especially for the overperforming builds. I just don't assume ill itent on behalf of GGG like other people seem to. People should save the whining and crying until they've actually tried the patch. |

Without the information on skillgems base damage there is no way to see full picture, smart move. Maybe frostbolt and ice nova are still two weakest skills in the game, maybe not. But it is already obvious that GGG again swings collateral damage left and right instead of surgically fixing busted synergies at the top end.
Example: - "Procs now cannot proc themselves or another procs" - good nerf, surprised it took GGG this long to start fixing infinite loops from heralds and self-sustaining meta gems. Poe1 had this hole since the start. - "Axed base mechanic of a given skill to oblivion" - bad nerf, adding cooldown or gutting base damage affects all synergies equally, it hardly influences build disparity at all, unless given skill was absolutely BiS in all scenarios, which should never have happened in the first place. Hexblast could've been abused before, now it can barely be used. Even in most dumb casual way. Dernière édition par Echothesis#7320, le 3 avr. 2025 à 06:58:12

" Hexblast was absolutly nerfed and is probably dead even without knowing the damage numbers. You used Blasphemy support to make your curses into auras then run around hexblasting and blowing up those curses, the new change means you cant even cast hexblast until the curse is at 50% duration remaining, auras have no duration so the primary use function of the skill is just dead. on top of that curses now take longer to activate, so with these changes if you wanted to run hexblast you have to manually cast say 3 different curses, they each take 1.5 seconds to activate on the target or group then you have to wait until 50% duration of each curse before being able to click your damaging ability. Hexblast is dead, it doesnt matter what the damage changes are. Same thing with hammer of the gods, its just dead |

Yeah I mean let's ignore the fact that all skill gems had their damage completely revised and we won't know the new data until patch comes up. Yeah let's pretend they haven't do that and let's assume the worst and believe it very hard. Hey, might as well go on poe2 forums and make threads about it. Assuming is fun!

" maybe there is a a couple of new support gems out of 100 they added that fixes your preconceived problems with hexblast and hammer of the gods spells? maybe you should, I dunno, WAIT AND SEE??? |

" First of all, they LITERALLY included numbers in the patch notes, affecting damage. Second of all player power was NOT "too high", it was only "too high" in the case of mana/stat stackers and cast on shock and a few ultra specific combos. Literally everything else was having trouble reaching the required damage to clear maps, and they nerfed the stuff that was weak. |

+100 new support gems,
Its called balancing, something not a single one of these massive "MY STUFF NERFED" threads can even seem to think about. |

" if you take the time to read the patch notes, like your screaming everybody should do, you will notice than many of the nerf's aren't about damage, it's about the synergies being broken, or about the secondary effects such as aoe radius, or fundamentally changing skills and supports to nullify a mechanic. the title of my thread was asking for justification. GGG could put this entire question to rest with one sentence. but they let the flame wars continue between the people who are concerned with the direction this game is heading and people who just want to flame anybody that have a critical opinion.
