Why All the Hate?

because they are never going to band-aid the current mapping system into a real end game, or a worthwhile arpg. the tweaks they are making to endgame show that they have no desire to scrap it and make something better. They need to design an endgame that competes with acts 1-3 for how cohesive it feels to the rest of the game because acts 1-3 were beautifully made. we're all losing faith..
Interesting comments and all appreciated. I'm wondering if GGG had a fulltime "Community Communication Manager" people would feel a bit better? Sometimes no communication is far worse than receiving "bad" news. But since this is my first time playing a GGG game, maybe they already have this?
They do not have a community communication manager.
There are moderators who maintain content, but the best we can assume they have access to is an algorithm that ingests all forum posts made in the past 30 days and provides a summary of key themes of posts for path of exile which they can review and assess but never respond to.
I dont see it as hate its supposed to be a feedback forum and mostly thats what pwople are doing both negative and positive.

the problem is expectation, broken promises "slow tactical gameplay" being a major one. does endgame play remotely resemble that?

players invested cash to play the game dont be surprised if they voice displeasure if they feel that the statements the devs made seem to be false.

People on internet aren't punished socially for their bad behavior as they are on real life. While they are restricted outside, they kind of use this enviroment to release their frustations and act immaturely. That is why you see a bunch of adults acting like 12 yo kids on internet forums like this.

Also, people are really silly sometimes. It is 2025 and people still trust blindly in pre-release marketing. You see, some people really expected that a EA game would be released in a perfect condition or that any problems would be fixed fastly. I mean, we have so many examples in the game industry that anyone with some common sense would get into this with no high expectations. Despite of that, we still see some people ignoring facts and evidences, choosing to "believe" instead.

I see so many threads and comments that are furiously slamming the game, GGG, and other players. Why does this game generate so much emotional hatred? Is the bar set so high for PoE2 that anything GGG does isn't good enough? Or is it possible that people have so much passion for the game that nothing can make them happy?

If these people posting are truly so upset and angry, why even post? Why not walk away, keep your money in your pocket and find a better game you like?

I just don't understand the need to post with so much emotional negativity. Constructive feedback is great but anything beyond "constructive" is such a waste of a person's time. Surely people don't think GGG will read and act to the emotional angry posts do they?

Because i feel cheated...$30 gone for promises by GGG...

2-3 little patches in almost 4 month is disgusting after all the Hype GGG and their leader created.

Well they are wealthy people now with our money... why care?
I'd say the worst issue is the bootlickers. Every feedback that doesn't agree with GGG is wrong/bad/skill issue and PoE is the "best arpg" because GGG knows better, yada yada... It gets boring really fast and makes any attempt at constructive feedback useless.

When a developer is dead set in their way of thinking it can be either good or bad. When it aligns with the majority of players it's good and bad when it isn't. This is clearly a case that it isn't good, and the negativity mounts when the players are ignored.
Ultimately people care about the game otherwise they'd just shrug it of.

It would be nice of course if people use more positive attitude and bring constructive feedback instead of doomsaying.

So bring your own constructive feedback or participation, don't feed the pointless topics/rants.

It's exceeded the hype. It's fucking awesome! Best game there is, and definitely a spiritual successor to D2LOD. It's taken the systems that work and were fundamental to it popularity and expanded it, improved it, and created a masterpiece.

This game is in Early Access and not even 1/3 of the game has been released yet. Anyone judging it in this capacity is an imbecile and doesn't know what it means when something is Early Access.

Early access isn't a scape goat for the games current state, we are not time travellers we cannot judge what we are going to have in the future there is only the game in its current state and most of the systems in the game currently feel designed against the player and do not promote a positive gameplay loop, Dying feels cheap, mapping feels insurmountable and stretched out as much as it can not to mention the design of maps themselves are giant labyrinths, and what variety exists isn't being explored, people are designing builds to get around the games mechanics not to engage with them because most mechanics are downgraded and feel worse than the prior game.
Currently i personaly hope that the next step in EA will give:

10-20 Skill gems.

10-15 Passive gems.

2-3 new weapon types.

1-2 new acts.

20+ More points of interest for the Atlas map (see Heroes of Might and Magic 3 for multiple examples to joink and evolve)

1 more option to ascend your character.

2 more classes

Option to change ascendency.

As many "quality" bosses as you can possibly push out. Drown me in them, but keep them as (in my opinion) well designed as they have been so far.

More crafting options.

If most of this happens i personaly will feel good about the new amount of content to test and give feedback on. And yes, just enjoy playing new stuff in general. And i would like to think, alot of fellow players would feel a bit better about the void in new content for EA.

With regards to the Towers. Once you get to the "switch" and activate it, i think i would have enjoyed something like:

The Towers are made up of 5-10 Floors (like Dominus tower). You will se a visual indication of sort if its a 5,8 or 10 floor tower. (insert cool tower art)

Floor 1: is what we have now, with the "switch". Giving the baseline aura range of the tower. And we also open up a gate into the tower.

Floor 2: A boss room. Killing the unique tower boss opens the door to the next floor and next boss.

Floor 3: Every third floor you clear will Greately increase the radious from the tower. And also allow you to add a second tablet for extra spice/juice.

Floor 5: Dual boss fight. Massive loot bonus.

Floor 6: Third tower radious increase switch after killing the boss. And also allow you to add a third tablet for extra spice/juice.

Floor 7: Boss fight.

Floor 8: Dual boss fight. Even greater loot bonus.

Floor 9: 4:th tower radious increase switch after killing the boss. And also allow you to add a 4th tablet for extra spice/juice.

Floor 10: Face the "Tower keeper". When you beat him, the floor lights up. The tower now fully empowerd, opens up an interactable Atlas table in stone. On this tables atlas map, you see your own explored atlas, but only Towers.

And you are now able to select any "discoverd tower on your map" and then connect the current tower you are at, with the tower you select.

A magic connection line will now go between the towers. And on your normal atlas, you are now able to continue mapping from the connected tower without having to map your way to it first.

I think something like this would give some extra joy and excitement when finding a tower. Not just knowing there is always extra loot in them, but extra bosses, a fancy end-game boss. And a way to expand your interaction with the towers and the atlas. Both for more juice with 3x area expansion of influense, and.

Being able to select a tower you se far far away and connect to it and continue mapping right from it (you still have to go into the newley connected tower and win so to say).

5 floor Tower = 3 portals
8 floor Tower = 4 portals
10 floor Tower = 6 portals

Just to (for now) keep it in line with the rest of the games portals number somewhat.

We all want the game to be as good as possible in the end, i feel the struggle to keep it still sain exile. But i urge us all to keep it civil, keep hammering out feedback and ideas under this time that the base of the game is forming and changing under EA, and i will trust in that our requests ( if resonable ) will be heard and reflected in the final base product of PoE 2.
