Why All the Hate?

I see so many threads and comments that are furiously slamming the game, GGG, and other players. Why does this game generate so much emotional hatred? Is the bar set so high for PoE2 that anything GGG does isn't good enough? Or is it possible that people have so much passion for the game that nothing can make them happy?

If these people posting are truly so upset and angry, why even post? Why not walk away, keep your money in your pocket and find a better game you like?

I just don't understand the need to post with so much emotional negativity. Constructive feedback is great but anything beyond "constructive" is such a waste of a person's time. Surely people don't think GGG will read and act to the emotional angry posts do they?

There was a ton of hype for this game. It didnt live up at all.

The devs also lied tremendously about pretty much everything. Video game devs exaggerating their game for sales is nothing new but daaaaang.

They advertised this game as having "tactical" combat. LOOOOOOOL
ok

why all the shitty decisions?
"buff grenades"

- Buff Grenades (Buff-Grenades)
First rule of internet forums: the loudest people are almost never there to be helpful, even if they have the self control and/or emotional awareness to understand what that means.
honestly, i would imagine that they have some filter so youre probably right about devs not seeing the negativity. I don't understand it either, seems that people feel "lied" to but in reality it is their vision that we are playing.
It's exceeded the hype. It's fucking awesome! Best game there is, and definitely a spiritual successor to D2LOD. It's taken the systems that work and were fundamental to it popularity and expanded it, improved it, and created a masterpiece.

This game is in Early Access and not even 1/3 of the game has been released yet. Anyone judging it in this capacity is an imbecile and doesn't know what it means when something is Early Access.

GGG brought some tiny patches since Dec_6th_2025 and you ask that??

No performance optimizations - No new Class - No new Skill Gems
No Content - No improved Loot - Unique Trash not improved and and

Nothing special for the customers that all payed $30 to support GGG
There are two de-facto forums for feedback, and despite thousands of threads being created about the same half-dozen glaring issues, the scant developer press releases or interviews either disregard all that feedback or arguing against it. For example, Jonathan saying that there isn't a problem with map sustain and Mark saying that it's actually good that "crafting" is just a slot machine.

When this happens, those giving feedback get bitter and negative.

Another thing that throws gasoline on the fire is all of the forum trolls who go around patrolling threads where people are offering feedback and just insult everyone by calling them bad players, saying they don't deserve to be level 90+, they don't deserve to have good gear, etc. GGG would be well served to ban the forum trolls, but if you look at their avatars, it is clear that they are cash cows for GGG so they can troll with impunity.

Part of what you're seeing is that the game has frustrating mechanics/gameplay in some parts/sections by design. So playing the game will illicit that mood or feeling from users.
People are angry when they care about something. If they don't care about it, they're indifferent and go spend their time and money elsewhere. In my case, the game was 10/10 in the campaign (okay, minus those terrible trials) and then took a nosedive in the endgame. And I think it's similar with a lot of people. And that's why those people are angry, because they saw how good the game could be and have an attachment, so they're going through the 5 stages of grief when the game sucks (which includes anger) before eventually reaching acceptance and taking their time and money elsewhere when the game isn't fixed by then.
