Many players had high hopes for Path of Exile 2, but for many, those hopes have been shattered.

I love the hyperbole on this forum.... SHATTERED!!!

All our hopes and dreams :( SHATTERED!!

But not me because I am using EARTHSHATTER, I AM THE SHATTERER !!

The game was super hyped, EA came out at a time where people are starving for food and we all rode the bus and had a boatload of fun.

But yeah, POE will be POE. For good and for worse. There's a good chance a big chunk of people gave it a shot and found out the game is still far from accessible.

POE is basically for nerds who like to figure out why going from 75 to 76% Lightning Resistance makes a substantial difference to survivability, while adding 4000 armor doesn't.

And just like the UBRUNTRU nerds, they go in unison "AH BUT YOU SEE!! HERE IS THE MATH!!! LET ME EXPLAIN!! YOU ARE THE ONE WHO DOESNt UNDERSTAND HOW TO PLAYZ MY GAME!!"

So all those poor fellahs basically closed the game and went back to chill out in Diablo.

Others may be waiting for Titan Quest II early access.

You also have a big chunk of Diablo fans, who dropped Diablo II Resurrected for a while, full of hope and wonder, only to go back to D2R because POE is POE... in other words POE is not a "diablo like" game.

But who are we kidding, I'm a run some more meps.

Are you running maps because it's fun, or just something to do?
I love how we're holding up EA 0.1 builds of a game up to (unavailable) live-release numbers from the literal best-selling action-rpg/hack-and-slash franchise of all time.

If you want the sky to fall, no one's going to convince you otherwise. The rest of us will be around as long as the game doesn't brick our machines. ;)
You make a good point. The two cannot be compared. However as a new player to POE, I get a general feeling that the legacy player base is just fine with the possibility that POE 2 attracts no new players if it means giving up this ethereal exclusivity that is some sacred game rule of the past.

Even if it means making the game better, I read time after time that folks would rather die on the cross of POE 1, than create a game that would attract a larger audience.

Literally the same as in Eve online, some "Elitist" Behaviour over a at best Mediocre Game. Just because it´s more Complex, that doesn´t mean it´s better.
The last 2 Months just showed me, (i speak for myself) was a nice experience, except that i can not see why i should Play the Game (Grinding for Gear ;)) when i have to trade everything i need or want, not a SINGLE Item except the common Pillar i use dropped for myself, everything is traded... waiting for Anno and the new Survival Game and then uninstall.

Imagine taking stats like this so seriously for a game that isn't even finished or had it's first major update lmao

poe2 official launch will be more popular than Early Access ever was

No it won't.

Most players that left, left forever and it's not hard to see that the ones behind the helm don't wan't to change a dime of their ''vision''.

New players won't return, bots will.

As a 7.5 PoE veteran player I’d say two things….

1) I in no way whatsoever want PoE2 to be the same as PoE1, I want a different game built to the same values as PoE1 but not the same. I dislike the one portal mechanic for example, not because we had 6 in PoE1 but because it doesn’t allow us to learn and costs us not just 10%xp (which I’m fine with) but also the investment into that map.

2) completely off topic but it feels like a lot of PoE2 (but not played PoE1) players are bored or frustrated with the game and we will have to wait a month for 0.2.0 and see what new delights and problems that brings (this is a beta after all and an early one at that, I don’t count closed betas as I consider them little more than insider feedback than testing). This is a perfect time for those that are bored or disgruntled with PoE2 at the moment to go try out the Legacy of Phrecia event on PoE1, your time in PoE2 has been an excellent ‘primer’ for PoE1 and there are build guides on reputable sources (zizaran or maxroll to name just 2 but plenty more) to follow and keep you entertained with the madness of this event until 0.2.0 comes out ;)

Thier "vision" is Blind. And its ruining the game.

Its a vision of what the game could be, or might be in the future, but the game were playing right now, the game they have sold us, is not.

Even if they prommise to make good on thier blind vision later, its not there yet. But its not then, its now, and now its not good.

Were already playing now. or played. and the game just isnt there now.

Sorry but we a) don’t know what ‘their vision’ is and b) are making a massive assumption that it’s not flexible.
0.2.0 is a month away, go play something else and if you feel like come back and see if 0.2.0 has moved your opinion one way or the other.

Edit: although a reply to your post, this applies equally to sirgog that you replied to.

A whole Month? But I want it now!

The assumption is made based on interviews and feedback from Johnatahn him self and he refuses to improve parts of the game because it doesnt fit thier vision. e.g. The one portal problem.

No big deal, obviously, given the recent update GGG is perfectly fine developping a game and content for two dozen of people. They don't need customers obviously....
