PoE 2 has lost over 80% of its players in 3 months.

What I will say is a regular post in for example a ‘what we are working on’ thread in poe2 announcements would be a huge deal for players, communication is key to customer satisfaction and at the moment I feel that that is lacking.

Now that Chris is officially gone, don't expect a lot. If all of insiders info was correct (and it seems it was) things are going very bad with POE2 development.

I have noticed a reduction and then an absence of Chris but do we have an official post that he has left?
I feel as though Jonathan cares as much about the franchise as Chris, maybe I’m wrong but all I’ve seen shows he is deeply involved and cares as much today as when the 3 of them started the whole game in the garage.

Check out Talkative Tri's new video. Apparently, it was in the New Zealand public business registrar. I'm not totally buying it, until GGG says something. It could be that Chris Wilson is getting a new title, and will still be involved in some capacity.

Chris Wilson, co-founder of Grinding Gear Games, has sold all his shares in the company and is no longer an owner, although he remains listed as a director. There are unconfirmed rumors that he hasn't been present in the office for some time.

We all know this although some call the new owners TenCent (which is technically true as they’re the parent company of SixJoy).

Appears accurate, could be a misfiled document like happened a year ago, or as you say he could just be stepping back to a new role.
If he has left (as Bex did before) then it’s imo due to the horrible feedback directed directly at him for some of PoEs changes (such an AN mods, LoK, exalts/divine swap etc). As the document says 25 January 2025 I’d also blame the horrific PoE2 EA feedback as a lot of it imo has been far far from constructive and highly critical.
Genuinely sad news if true!

Furthermore, we know that only a fraction of the player base uses Steam.

How do you "know" that? Where is any evidence or indication for that? And please stop talking in this highly manipulative "we" just to inflate your take. You're one person. With one opinion. As am I.

You used a lot of words to dismantle very legitimate criticism, but you ended up virtually saying nothing.

To claim that the Steam player base is only "a fraction" when we're talking about the biggest pc game distribution platform is a wild display of mental gymnastics.

steam does miss all console players and given that there are more people playing pc games without steam than there are people playing pc games with steam proves the point that poe stand alone client is the majority. why should the numbers differ for poe or poe2 only?

assuming the majority of all poe/poe2 players plays via steam does not make any sense. not at all.

if you nerf 10 gems out of 30, you automatically buff the other 20!

Yeah, very sad, if true. He's such a cool guy. I think either way, he's probably happier off. My guess is that when Tencent bought the shares, Chris Wilson and others made a lot of money from that. He could easily retire. If he's working, he's doing it because he wants to, not because he has to.

I agree with you. Negativity is never constructive, and we can all do better here. The frustrations are real, but they could have been channeled in better ways. Would we treat a friend that way?

Agreed, if posts that people would not say to your face were filtered out of these forums it would be half (or less) the size.
Example, I’m disappointed that Legacy of Phrecia event is only 9 days but is it worth making a fuss about? No! (I’d prefer if it was 3 weeks but also if poe2 0.2.0 comes out in 10 days conversely happy the event is only 9 days lol)

True but it’s reasonable (but not possible to prove) that if a player plays D4 PoE and PoE2 that they do so the same way for all of them such as standalone or steam etc.. The metric is definitely incomplete but valid as an indicator imo.

I was playing a few nights ago and I looked at the public party list. There was 6.... "SIX!" Parties in chapter 3. I checked and I didnt have any filters on the party list and I wasnt searching for a specific party name. Thats all there was. 6 parties with a few players in each party. How far POE2 has fallen. All this "we have 1 million concurrent players" is BS. Maybe that was on day one, but now everyones gone. These numbers are going to keep reducing to nothing untill GGG does something drastic. ATM POE2 is a sinking ship.
