End of an era at GGG; Tencent is calling the shots and gameplay is now secondary to $

Poor trash feedback. Not a single thing relevant, true, or even in the right ballpark.

1) Long Campaign = hook for more money. Literally the opposite is true. Most money comes from just before a league launch, or within the first few days. The campaign length is irrelevant. People aren't buying "more" because they are stuck in the campaign for longer. Anybody with real knowledge of the gaming market knows this.

2) Longevity is irrelevant: again, the exact opposite is true. They cannot, absolutely CANNOT, attract new customers every quarter. Their main goal is to KEEP the diehards as long as humanly possible to keep getting revenue. This is the entire f2p model, and it is what has made GGG and PoE 1 a success. Longevity takes many forms. One is the one you seem to only care about (even with your first point): playing for a long time without quitting. This is contrary to the the whole "temporary league" gaming philosophy since its creation and subsequent ubiquity. The new "longevity" is making players come BACK over and over again. It's still incredibly important

3) Killing PoE 1: doesn't even deserve a response. A straight up blatant lie

4) Bots: they DO matter and they DO get reported and they DO get removed. But it is literally impossible in the tech world to stop bots altogether. Impossible. I would LOVE to hear how you handled that with your two years at EA. Engaging Gameplay: so the campaign just....was never created? There are problems with the endgame, but it sure seems like engaging gameplay is the CORE focus of PoE2, just currently not in the most rushed, most unpolished part of the game.

As someone who touted his credentials at the start of a post, presumably to lend an air of "trust me, I know", you could have really done better here. What was even your job at EA that gives you some sort of "insider knowledge" that us plebs can't possibly understand?

Did you play poe1 in 2013? Game was way shittier and like 2% of the content we have with poe2.

Its not 2013, they have a whole library of code they are obviously copy pasting, a whole library of assets they are obviously copy pasting and theoretically 12 years of experience at knowing what works and what doesn't that they have forgotten.

Whybwould they copy paste poe1. They are making a new game with new content. And start fresh without the 14 years of poe1 bloat that plagues it. Fresh, new content, new leagues.

I like your thoughts because ours seem very similar, we share the same grief, which is not understood by others because they don't understand what was taken from us here and on top of that they want to sell us a pig in a poke. The problem is that it has always worked. People forget too quickly and don't have a codex.

The problem for GGG is the market is already saturated with such companies, which is the reason the best games for a while have all been independent developers. I have been playing last epoch for a couple of weeks, I should look into if they are truly independent.

I believe tencent only has 20% stake in EHG at the moment. I don't believe they need any additional cash infusion with the units they have sold so far plus supporter packs. It is not F2P so 35$ x x,xxx, xxx units is a decent chunk of money for a team that is still indie sized. They are also 100% virtusl so no physical infrastructure footprint. Also keep in mind when someone points at steam numbers that LE can be played 100% offline if desired.

Shows who the Directors are, 3 from Tencent and 2 from GGG then on the next tab, who controls all the shares - Tencent

GGG is now controlled fully by Tencent

As someone else said, when this releases to 1.0 i could see that if people we're willing to $30 for EA then why not charge another $30 for full access bar the people who already paid for EA
The hidden profile bootlickers are out in force.

I wonder if they're even real humans or just AI Bots.
Love the games. PoE1 way more so than PoE2, but still enjoying both.

Hate the company. The scummy, lying, fake and shitty facade, the excuses, the failures, and most of all, the "Vision".

Keep both of those in mind when reading my posts.

This news is not new, This was already public knowledge.

And I'll re-state this from an other post, GGG's deal gave them some level of autonomy, Unless (that deal) has changed im not really worried about any of this tencent nonsense.

You know what's internet security 101? Keep everything private. Especially on a site that has already had multiple data breaches. Why do I need to advertise to you? How does it benefit me at all?

Thanks for the quick lesson in foolish projection, while offering nothing of substance. Feel proud?

Seriously? Are people so naieve?

Name me the things that are additive to POE1 in POE2. No more gem sockets on gear (not working out well). Cutting the gem yourself (you could have bought from vendor so meh), some boss mechanics. The boring infinite pointless direction atlas that is autogenerated isn't even new. Its obviously from delve code that has been badly screwed up. Copying delve alone with maps would have been at least interesting.

EVERYTHING else is copied from POE1.

And this game has cut over three quarters of the functionality from POE1.

POE2 is Semi-ruthless POE1 lite with more modern graphics. It is a purely cynical money play by Tencent. Another reason they changed it from expansion to new game and charged for early access.

It is normal for consumers to be frustrated by the empty promises issued by the companies they invest in.

If you disagree with others expressing their opinions, and you want others to unconditionally understand that GGG cannot fulfill its promises, then you must also require yourself to unconditionally accept other people's complaints. This is equal.

What I am surprised about is why GGG's work efficiency is far less than that of Tencent's studios after receiving financial support from capital companies like Tencent?

League of Legends: Wild Rift had balance issues and even fixed them on the night of the version patch, but what about POE2? Among the many problems that can be fixed with small patches, only one is fixed every week.
I still believe in GGG, all this hate coming out makes no sense to me.

They underestimated the workload of PoE2, they will make it better.
They always do.
