Class gender locks still? This is not the way
This game has no Gandalf, no Elminster, no Raistlin, no Merlin, no Dumbledor, no Harry Potter, no Pug.
I've played PoE 1 the last week in preparation, with a Templar as somebody "close-ish" in the tree, but the 6 gender locked early access classes and their ascendendies are even further away for what I look to play in a fantasy RPG. I'm pretty mainstream with that. With a game so agile in terms of class and skills, can anyone explain to me why the easiest restriction-fix of all, class gender-lock, didn't get fixed in PoE 2? I wouldn't say it's the 'easiest' fix, a gender option for each class is double the rigging/voice work.
Does suck, but we'll end up with 6~ of each gender. I'm just treating it as my version of the game only has 6 classes available, which will still keep me busy. |

" Because, unlike many other games, PoE's characters are not just a blank slate. They each have their own unique story, their own voice actors with a lot of lines, etc... If the characters weren't gender locked, then they would require double the effort to create, for very little gain. GGG simply doesn't think the effort would be worth it. |

" I can understand why you would want to play as the gender that you identify as, but at least in this game I don't think it matters nearly as much compared to games where you see your character close up all the time. Here, you have a zoomed out aerial view of your character, so most times you only notice the silhouette of it anyway – add different pieces of armour to that and you won't notice it much. And when fighting big groups of mobs or huge bosses, that's also where your focus will probably be. |

" One you're covered in gear, what does it matter? Lol |

why is gender-lock a problem for you, since i dont see any old ladies kicking butt either?
the only character that you mentioned was harry potter that could look like a male witch, a young harry potter that is, an older harry potter could look like a duellist with a wand, couldnt he? |

I support the original poster. I appreciate the hard work that goes into producing the game, and I played PoE1, so there is no need for everyone to complain about all that. However, I prefer to choose the gender of my character as well. Is it a deal-breaker that I'm not able to in some games? No, absolutely not. Is it something I value in a game? Absolutely, yes. Not everyone understands what it's like not to see yourself represented on TV, in books, or movies, but games have long allowed people to create self-referential toons, which means something. It's just a preference people have, and one I respect, just like it's all good if you don't care about that kind of thing.
