Hey thank you so much for this build and guide! League started this and im having a blast. Starting red maps now and its been going pretty smooth. Got a lot of the gear pretty cheap. The midgame update u posted is also very helpful. How much have you spent up until ur midgame switch?

Btw I am using Essence Drain in the spare socket slots which helps a lot with rares and bosses.

Do you think taking a merc with malevolence would be an option also? It would free up some other aura I guess..

You can do that for sure! It should work well. The thing is the mercs are dumb and I dont trust them with such a powerful aura.

If you do replace malevolence. A good aura is purity of elements. The immunity to ailments and free resistances you get makes it so you can sacrifice gear pieces and equipment else where. It basically frees up stats on gear.

I was playing around in craft of exile but spamming Envy Essence on a Hunter influenced ring didn't seem to be the answer lol

1. Get hunter influence iolit ring
2. Spam caster modifiers in harvest craft until get despair curse on hit
3. Be happy

Essence of envy spam might take you a divine or 2 of essences this league.

So id recommend what this wonderful user suggested if you dont have one

You cant get the extra 30% chaos damage on the ring doing this.

OR

You can take a normal iolite ring. With 1 open suffix (and the mods you want). Then hit it with a hunters exalted orb.

You have a 33% chance to get a very valuable ring

OR

You can just spam essence of envy's on a hunters ring (more rng)

what type of merc do you recommend?

So I've been testing different mercs and what I have found to be the best so far is the most recent one I found. It is a fallen reverend str/int with Zealotry and Wrath auras. It has a raise spectre of transience and absolution as well. Which proc a bunch of little minions which kind of work as cannon fodder. But the damage increase I got from the double aura was substantial.

what type of merc do you recommend?

Id recommend chaos auras and not auras we already use or run, such as zealotry, malevolence and determination.

Id also like to recommend getting a merc with shapers seed as the amulet. The regen is very nice. You can also look at getting a merc with the ability to proc hinder. Especially if you have the cluster notable touch of cruelty. As its essentially a 10% more damage modifier.


Envy is a nice aura. You can occasionally find mercs having that skill. Usually chaos spell casters. This will make your damage go up a decent amount and will make your poisons (if you apply them) more potent.

As for who I've been running with. Ive been using a toxicologist with grace and withering step as well as them having a withering touch support. I gave them a shapers seed and a leer cast.

So this is interesting to me.

I have an 83 int merc that has envy, my tooltip dps is 72k + 396k/sec dot with her.

When I put my zealotry + wrath merc on, my dps goes to 77k + 470k/sec dot.
