Lvl 23 hc character killed by level 52 hc character on kraityn quest
" When I 1st read it I actually wondered if it was possible at all to permanently kill other players in HC. My fears were apparently true. The opt out I mentioned was a 2nd warning when someone decides to fight against the group... giving the group the ability to leave if that person is just someone trying to grief them(some high level wanting to slaughter lower levels). I've already said this twice. It doesn't matter what you tell me or the OP when you say "learn to read". People will continue to be killed by this daily while the exploit exists and no amount of high boating will stop that. |

" And people will continue to be killed by Vaal and Perpetus and reflect mobs... that's how the game works. Stop calling it an exploit. Nothing is being exploited. The quest is functioning as designed to punish people who are inattentive. You either learn the easy way (by reading) or you learn the hard way (by dieing once). Everyone learns and by learning we grow stronger. It's stuff like this that makes Path of Exile great compared to other games that hand-hold and coddle people. PoE does not forgive laziness, and some of us love that. Stop trying to fuck with a winning formula. |

" Except people specifically hunt new players daily just to kill them. I understand it becomes extremely easy to level up as you play.. but not everyone is going to play PoE as much as us. It isn't the case of a group having fun then suddenly being pitted against eachother. The fact is that malicious users are going out of their way to prey on weaker characters/more impressionable players. Many of these people are seeing that message for the 1st time and have no idea it will actually end up deleting their characters(at least I wasn't 100% sure that would happen). It isn't the biggest deal but I find it sad when people brag about their killcount against players who stand no chance. They aren't looking for a fairfight, they're just looking to ruin another person's day. Dernière édition par kasub#2910, le 21 mars 2013 à 11:30:54

" Right. And the only ones they succeed in killing are the ones who deserve to die because they failed to heed the obvious warnings. Again, why is this a problem? It's the entire reason the quest was designed this way. You pay attention or you get killed. The fact that it is a high level player instead of a special boss attack or rare mob is irrelevant. If you're playing Hardcore and you're not either a) being incredibly careful in which case you will notice the warning or b) already aware of how this quest works then maybe you're not ready for Hardcore? It's called Hardcore for a reason - no room for mistakes and no forgiveness for laziness or lack of attention to detail. If you're playing on Softcore then you literally lose nothing. The waypoint is right beside the bandits. " If you weren't 100% sure it WOULDN'T happen, why take the risk? I wasn't sure exactly how it worked either, but I sure as hell didn't take the risk. I was careful, and in being careful I survived and in surviving longer than the people who were less careful, I demonstrated the purpose for this quest design. It is a lesson to new players that PoE and GGG are not going to fuck around and play games and hold hands and give second chances. They are going to smash your fucking face in a lot of different ways and you need to be ready for it. Awesome stuff! |

Just to make it clear. I never took any risks, I started the game playing with a friend so this was never an issue for me.
I think we understand eachother's points. To me I just think giving people a chance to escape when they see someone become hostile should be an option somehow. This will mean people can group up for these quests instead of relying on solo/friends(to play coop in an online game) and new players have more than enough of a chance to leave instead of being onehit from a massive AoE. |
