Lvl 23 hc character killed by level 52 hc character on kraityn quest

I am level 23.I am going along happily leveling decided to go kill Kraityn.I am in a party when i get to Kraityn we all decide to kill him. Then this level 52 guys decides he will help Kraityn, then guess what happens. HE SMASHES US. he is a lvl 52 marauder and he just one shots me and the other 4 people in the party. Since we are all in Hardcore league we all die :(. My problem is that this is extremely unfair. It should not be allowed for a level 52 to help Kraityn then kill everyone in the party. 5 poor people (including me) just lost their level 19-24 hardcore characters. I appreciate it if GGG could make this a bit more fair or give us some warning before a level 52 smashes me.

I think everyone is missing the point a knew that it could happen i read the text. My point is that is it very very wrong to join the Kraityn quest just to farm poeple on hc. What kind of screwed up person takes joy out of that.

It quite clearly states that if a player chooses to help Kraityn when you choose to kill him, then you will have to fight that player, and it is your own fault for not reading that and/or preparing for it.

While I agree it is a rather dirty trick, and the mechanic is designed to allow the scum of the game to kill lower level players, it IS clearly stated that it can happen.

In the future, you have several options for the bandit quests:

1. Join a public party and CHOOSE LAST.
2. Solo the bandits.
3. Party with some trusted friends.

explain to me why a level 23 character is in a party with a level 50

...not necessary

obvious some shit is about to go down
^_^ You will hate me and I am okay with that ^_^
@EnlightenD
I'm with the previous poster on this one.

1. It is a completely scumbag thing to do. BUT

2. GGG has gone out of its way to warn players of the dangers of their choice, and you should have been aware of it, especially with one character in the group being so much higher than all the rest.

Why should it be dangerous at all? It adds flavour in default since it won't permanently erase your character from griefing.. not so much in hardcore.

It's just so easily abusable, it's practically begging to be abused with how it works. The only real way of avoiding it is not grouping with strangers when doing the bandits(on hc at least). That's just silly and will always ruin the experience of new players.

It really doesn't matter if longtime players can always avoid it since the ones who will be abused are those new players just wanting some coop action.

You can keep telling people that they shouldn't group for the bandits or should wait to be last(which is silly since someone will have to be last eventually)... That doesn't change the fact that new players will keep being griefed by scummy people who want to prey on others.

I don't particularly disagree with you, if GGG changed the quest so that parties could only select one option unanimously I'd have no problem with that.

The point though is that, in the absence of that change, the quest text very clearly sets out what's going to happen if different party members chose different options.

So, yeah, I'd like to see them "fix it", but I think there's not a lot of excuse to be made for people being caught out by it.
You didnt see that he just doesnt fit into the party and didnt expect trouble? I never do bandids with strangers, you cant trust ppl, some folks are just nub and dont even understand what they click, so it can happen that half of the party chooses second option and many deaths incoming. And it is a waste of time, because you need to wait 15 minutes for the decisions of others, every guy wants to pick up last, and it ends up in this way. Just use decoy totem/skellies and kill them yourself, or invite a trusted higher lvl friend or someone you trust if you expect trouble. Lets hope the guy who killed your party dies horribly, i hate such scumbags :)
Sorry to hear about your bad experience OP. Sadly, some people feel the need bolster their sense of self-worth by doing scummy things like that.

While the bandit quest mechanic is pretty clear, and it does come with a warning, it is still easy for newbies to be preyed on by someone with bad intentions. In the future, take the quest with trusted friends only, specially in HC.

I hope you can just move past this and not let it ruin your enjoyment of an awesome game.
working as intented

next time read the quest

on your way higher you will encounter more of those "features"

--ice wall path blocking
--decoytotem behind you so projetiles focus you
-- unsafe townportals

best bet is to prepare for bosses and do them in a no peak hour much more fun and you feel good about yourself
