A broad P2W definition in law would paint premium stash tabs P2W

Somebody in the subreddit posted the news about some USA politician bringing forward a one-page proposal for regulating loot boxes and P2W.

And I just watched Bellular News video about it (minute 9:09)[1]:

tl;dw/dr

If the definition of 'artificial difficulty placed upon progression' is broad enough, the current purchasable stash tabs (premium tabs to list items for trade) could be interpreted/seen as aided progression (that can be bought) in a trade league economy (current meta and biggest player base).

Especially the four (4) normal tabs you have with a new account. Because you can't use them to trade something. And reading from the trade manifesto, in GGGs own words, trading aids progression.

Thus, IMHO, if GGG wants to minimise the chance of falling foul of any possible regulation (become the target of regulators, and thus possible income loss, or a lawsuit from Tencent because fiduciary responsibility thing) coming from America, they should turn all normal tabs into premium tabs. And stop selling normal tabs. And new accounts have the premium version of the normal tab, to allow trading without spending money to trade in a trade league economy.

I am not so sure about currency and map tabs, those can be argued are a convenience.

its like comparing brushing someones arm to rape, loot boxes are weighted gambling, out and out, aimed at kids, no different to lottery scratch cards, you get stash tabs for free, granted 4 is incredibly tight now with all the bloat since release, but they arent an actual requirement to play the game, and neither are mtx's, its convenience is all it is.

Premium tabs arent a requirement to get listed on the trade sites, you can manually make a forum post if you really wish to not spend a penny on the game.

You absolutely can use your default tabs to trade. People did it for years before they implemented an actual Trade API for premium tabs, and the old ways of doing it without premium tabs still work. You can also create unlimited free mule accounts with 24 free character slots, and all their free tabs, per account.

Premium tabs are vastly more convenient, and I'd never want to play without them again, but they are still just a convenience. There is nothing you can do with the premium or specialized tabs that you can't do without them.

Oh my toad-inflating badger Buddha.

WHY will people not let this patently ridiculous argument go?

The senator in question is specifically targeting loot boxes because loot boxes are a predatory business practice that unfairly targets young children with a flawed grasp of the price of these things and/or psychologically vulnerable adults looking for that Gambling High.

If someone with ELEVEN supporter badges somehow cannot afford ONE lousy fraggin' premium tab to trade with, I'd have to ask what in the Sam Shatner Manhell you spent all those points on. I haven't had any standard tabs in years and if for some reason the twenty-odd premium tabs I have aren't enough at some point I'd only ever consider buying more premium. It cost me all of maybe twenty bucks tops to convert my entire storage into premium tabs. I'm utterly certain that at some point in eleven supporter packs' worth of purchases, you've had the dollar or two's worth of points required to upgrade or purchase a premium tab.

Knock it off. It's a bogus argument that only detracts from more important issues.

They could also just ban new accounts from participating in anything but SSF. They wont do that either.
of course it's pay to win..

then again there's several people here with thousands of dollars invested and they think the game should stay """"hard"""" when they can just pay for stashes rather than investing time earning them in game somehow.

but hey the game should stay clueless and """"hard"""" cuz DiAbLO 2 experience imrite?

but "MuH dAdDi gGg OnLi gEtS mOni fRoM StAsHeS" really? they earn more than only from stashes sweetie, the microtransaction sets, weapons, pets, wings and even they sell you rain effects, chairs and whatever else they do for hideouts.. (reminds me of activision selling you a red dot in CoD for $1 LOL)

Doesn't really matter. Premium is faster so you make currency faster.

Ah, lets close our eyes because there are bigger issues. lol
What did the guy sitting in standard who likes to link his stack of 200+ mirrors, stacks of 5k exalts, and pretty much any legacy item you can think of win?

A huge bonus to his Flex build. And that's it.

What's stopping a player making a second account with multiple mules? This game is pay for convenience and resource management game.
