Why can't POE be played offline, like D2?
if they ever would release like 1.x version as offline version, how much would you pay for it(assuming that 1.x is old enough that you cannot cheat with the current live version)?
I'd pay 60€ for 1.3 offline client :D then they could sell 5€ mtx-patches still ;) d:-D*

It might be one day when they release PoE 2

There is only 1 possibility: someone with the time to reverse engineer this game to make an illegal game server.

" I would say more like "MTX cheating". Imagine when you play this offline and some hack enables all MTX for you. Then imagine how mad GGG will be but cannot do anything about it. Now you understand why. Also don't you realize that this "mandatory online" comes about the exact same time when games start throwing MTX on your face? It is not a coincidence to me. It's not about the game's popularity. It's about the exclusivity of ways of obtaining MTX. |

the only mtx i bought because of their looks were the lightning scorpion and the kiwi. and some of the hats.
it becomes even weirder as the only mtx i would ever want to have (the celestial set) i haven't got yet cause i ran out of points when it was up for it's real (sales) price. -- poe offline? well, the game is basicaly the server code, the client is just a dumb terminal doing the graphical output and taking players input. reprogramming the server is redoing the game from scratch. and who's gonna play some old version forever? age and treachery will triumph over youth and skill!

Probably because of piracy issues

" You have no idea idea what you are talking about, oder what does this "no" mean? On Topic : Of couse preventing cheating by keeping MOST of the important game logic on the servers, which makes it impossible to have an offline option. They learned from Diablo 2 obviously where everything was reverse engineered and than built into bots, because so much game logic just is executed on the client and can be read from the memory on run time ( for sure there is something on PoE where still stuff can be read from memory and uses in bots, but not for such an extend as it was possible for offline clients ). There may be as well other reasons for no offline client, related to marketing / mtx sales etc, who knows ... i am quite sure the technical aspects play the major role here. If we take into account the quite huge aspect of trading which is nowadays a major part especially for reaching endgame this is also a point - trading between offline clients does not work, and something like "open battlenet" proved to be a fail in relation to cheating again. Conclusion for you ( Of Topic ): if you have no idea about a topic at all : don´t leave such useless statements there Dernière édition par bex_HB#1414, le 8 mai 2019 à 05:55:26

" I stated a few times that I would pay 100$ upfront for the convenience of having even 1.3.0/1.4.0 of PoE playable OFFLINE. And they will release such a version, unfortunately it might be the current PoE one, when they think they might need to shut down the servers for good (which means we might have to wait a very long time for it)... Regardless, as long as they are online with a "nice" latency, I guess we could all simply manage to play PoE as is, though those moments when servers are off are such "a breath of fresh air", that it will be easier each time TencentGGG's missing the mark to be reminded that there still are options out there... PSS: Our almighty TencentGGG overlords are very scrupulous regarding criticizing their abilities to take proper decisions and consider everything "needlessly harsh and condescending"...
Good to know "free speech" doesn't apply in any form or manner on the forums these days... |

Because it is an online single player game.
Jokes aside, it because then they can sell you MTX that cost entire AAA games & supporter pack that cost a monthly mortgage or car payment. Without force online, it people will dupe the MTX or made better ones (which isn't exactly hard, consider how ugly most MTXs are). |
