Another blow to melee: hatred nerf
If you use zero cold damage, you end up doing 29.6% additional damage instead of 36%. Not a huge nerf.
If you do use other sources of cold damage it's a buff. It's also useful for attacks that don't have a physical component now so benefits a lot more attacks, and it's still superior to the other two auras. |

Not sure what the numbers are for gem levels past 20, but new Hatred evens out for melee at 40% extra phys as cold from other sources, such as a Shaper amulet and Taste of Hate for example, 20% rolls on each would give you 76.7 phys as cold with new hatred, and 76 phys as cold with the old one.

" sorry my friend, i didnt understand your calculations. lots of melee skills are based on phys. Hatred doesn't give u conversion. it gives 36% of phys as extra cold damage. lets say you have 0 cold damage, and 1m phys. thats 360k extra cold damage. 360k + 0 = 360k. now it will be reduced. |

hatred seperate 2 point now. 1-grant 25 of physical damage as extra cold damage (we are loss part of old one 36) second one 18 more cold damage.its global. if you are converted physical damage to cold like glacial cascade or other source physical damage to cold ,your hatred granted total benefit , absolutely higher than old version. lets math lets say glacial cascade total 1000 physical damage totally converted cold damage. with hatred 1250, with hatred 18 more damage 1475 with new version old version 1000 gc physical damage, with hatred 1360 copnverted or not converted , not any different |

Clearly they did it to curb the upcoming physical spells change from scaling out of wack.
Tbh tho with the ES leech, and ease of crafting ES gear with fossils, we should be seeing ES meta again, especially with ES being viable for budget builds now thanks for fossils. The real hardcore PoE players and the elites sit in town and zoning in and out of their hideouts trading items. Noobs that don't know how to play PoE correctly, kill monsters for items. It's pure fact, it will never change.

Note that the new hatred means that gc mines are not nerfed by as much as they look like--with full conversion and no added damage, hatred is now a functional 1.475 multiplier. So gc mines with minimum gear were nerfed by about 9% rather than 16%. Self-cast gc (thanks to additional cast time reduction) is now buffed by about 4% with minimum gear. This also applies to gc totems.
These functional modifiers apply at the same values as you add additional physical damage as cold but get less good as you add additional physical damage as other elements (since your base physical damage is still lower). Oh, but on the topic of melee? Yeah, super dead lol |

It's actually a buff for Cold Converted attacks like Frostblades.
Just gotta accept that melee will be trash until next league. From the looks of the balance adjustments in this patch, it seems like GGG did a pretty good job with the spells so there's hope for melee. |
