POE punishes normal players more and more
Casual players (like me) should not feel entitled to complete all challenges and end game content. Set realistic goals instead of demanding access to everything with no effort.
With limited time to play this league and RL illness affecting ability to focus I only had a few goals this league. Get ahold of a +1 totem shield(complete) and if possible the recipe too (has not happened yet), kill shaper at least once (complete), kill mastermind at least once without help (complete). Last goal was to have fun while playing (no problem there). As you notice: No goals of getting to 100, getting rich or killing uber elder/Aul etc. Why? Because I play casually and those things are there to make the more experienced players happy. Those that put down hours every day. GGG made sooo many aspects of the game accessible to a vast amount of people. It has never been easier to get to red maps. It has never been easier to hit level 90 even with quite horrible builds. |

" Rule 1 of POE: don't rely on RNG in gearing yourself. That way you create a potentially very frustrating wall for yourself. A week after I said screw it, I'll buy a 6L body armour, rather than try to six link a potentially better one, I had amassed a nice stack of fusings without even thinking about it. Tried six linking it anyway and badaboom, in a hundred fuses or so. Just save your currency, buy what you really need and focus on improvements and side projects like six linking later. p.s. To the guy that had problems with finding the lab trials: simply join global 820 channel and wait a bit for someone to mention the one you need. Took me 5 minutes of channel time to find the two I still needed. Dernière édition par Harrod#0658, le 5 janv. 2019 à 16:02:50

Lot of problems are here since long time.
Challenges require human interaction and trading, for which PoE doesn't provide any decent mechanic. Trade should be available without party and going to someone's hideout. Challanges have crap rewards. In the past you had armor or cool portals. Milestones were more casual friendly and everything was less grindy. I played over 80 hours this league and I'm at 120th level of Delve. No way I'm going to 270, not to mention 600. Those are challenges for standard. Yes, you hear me - there should be challenges for standard to encourage people to play it. Endless grind, even 1000th Delve, 100 level, etc. I would call them annual challanges. Dailies, monthlies (league) then long-term staff would be nice. Crafting is way too expensive. Bots everywhere, hence prices are crazy. Despite many available skills, self-cast and melee don't exist. Meta is too narrow. No alternative to level up and go mapping, except doing Acts 1-10 for the 190875907680th time. |

TLDR:
You are right OP, play Standard and screw challenges as I do. Haven't played poe for a week now, I had time yesterday but decided to play a game of Mage Knight instead. (Boardgame) Had time today as well but decided to start binchwatching walking dead. If you are a casual, just play standard now and then. Vorici can shove his fuse up his [removed]

If you mean the syndicate mechanic then dw most people are skipping it, but there's nothing wrong with it being tough even after the nerfs.
This game caters to everyone, that's the magic. If you want to do all the higher end content guardians, hitting 100, getting the league challenge rewards etc then well you have to be good, have time and put in the effort. Then you have the middle ground, people get to red maps, play tycoon, engage in some of the other league mechanics like delve etc, maybe do uber lab and smaller carries etc. Some barely have any time--couples hours a week here and there--and are just happy to reach maps, try some different builds etc. Either way, the new crafting system made it ultra easy to get into middle tier. So many items that were once trash can now be saved. The gaming world is about 90% mobile casual gaming, POE to be played with full understanding and hitting all the achieve/challenges in harder content is not meant to be for casual gaming. It's meant to be time consuming, it's meant to be hard and it's meant to require some level of skill/experience. Dernière édition par poeGT#1333, le 5 janv. 2019 à 14:30:23

" Unbalancing around no-lifers that play 12+ hours a day is also equally bad. Old PoE was hardcore but we didn't need to have twitch shooter reflexes and there wasn't any need for 1-shot bs mechanics. GGG super screwed up when they ramped up the power and speed of play so much. Unfortunately, now that the speed genie is out of the bottle it can't be put back... Sigh! "You've got to grind, grind, grind at that grindstone..." Necessity may be the mother of invention, but poor QoP in PoE is the father of frustration. no excuses op.
i work 8am to 5pm monday to friday. I also play world of warcraft and have to spend some hours every week doing my weekly stuff such as raids, dungeons and open world content. i still find time to play PoE and complete the stuff i like/want to complete. if you want to get to level 100, or do "end game grinds", reach delve 600 etcetcetc, it will required ALOT of time investment. but the vast majority of challenges and content is easily accessible by knowing how to get there efficiently. guides exist on youtube, reddit and other places. As for this "1 shot mechanics"... this has been a thing since the early days of poe. Maze map with the famous "slam" mechanic was a classic 1 shot ability. That's pretty much once of the few things left to even consider when fighting enemies. I see no problems with it and i hope they continue to introduce such mechanics. As for "speed meta", this has always been a thing in softcore. Melee builds were always really fast with leap slam even in beta days. Archers were pretty efficient as well, including Lightning Arrow/Frenzy builds back in beta. It has gotten even faster for sure, but you can play at your own pace. You dont need QOTF wander levels of speed farm to play the game and enjoy it. (I dont) Dernière édition par BuDiu#0138, le 5 janv. 2019 à 18:03:39

Just do what you can do with alloted time. Whats the big deal? You can't compare yourself to people who play every day sometimes many hrs a day and know game been playing it for years.
About one shots. They shouldnt happen if you take over 200% life on tree by the time you start mapping and up armor with max res. Two shots will but that what IC is for. IMO this is most casual league ever with all the free shit syndicate gives, crafting, ez low level farming opportunity like 25 cost delves and A10 ossuary syndicate farms. You can literally make 20ex before even hitting maps then build pretty much whatever you see that looks powerful. Git R Dun! Dernière édition par Aim_Deep#3474, le 5 janv. 2019 à 18:49:53

" This. There are already a thousand games out there that are balanced around that. PoE is so engaging exactly because it's not. |

" +1 Yesssss dude I've been telling people about this crap for years! It's honestly retarded how they never tell you what something does and expect you to just automatically see it and die on the spot w/o a reason. Noticed it ever since Nemesis or so. Example wtf is corrupted blood explained at in any of those patch notes or even the other mods like pharalytic (or w/e) link or even these new ones like light bolt , etc. It really doesn't matter if you played the league or not, there's simply no break down of wtf the mods / mechanics actually do. I only play a few of the leagues if they're worth it (adds new / major content not short small mechanics or items) i.e Legacy, Beastiary ,etc anything after Domination was pretty much hit or miss. Fyi Betrayal- miss / wont bother I rarely post, but when I do it's important. Fighting for the player, not monsters! https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/880487
