List of Poe biggest flaws - add yours

Balance
Or rather completely insane approach to it - Shaper/Elder stat sticks are bordering real insanity. These items are STUPID. there is no excuse for them to exist. They bring nothing good nor creative. they simply say:
- fake dual wielding is THE way to play (remove 2h and 1h+shield)
- classic spell-caster based items like %spell damage etc are worthless
- phys based spells skills are the way to go. all these items with 'deal fire damage as a base' etc are noob traps
- conversion is the way to go

this game already had a 2/10 balance quality, with these new items is a meme, a joke, a pathetic experiment of sorts.


Oh and Glacial Cascade 'threshold' jewel. FOR REAL?!


Balance
Skill balance (excluding this disaster of ele conversion for a while) is terrible. Kinetic Blast, Blade Flurry - these skills are AUTO WINS. you cannot go wrong with them. skills like that hold entire build genre hostage. there wont be any new wand skill introduced because Kinetic Blast cannot be topped. it does EVERY F.. THING.

I know that you do not do nerfs - because riots etc (no, they do not - most of the nerfs were a joke after the 'knee jerk' crows calmed down) - but 'buff everything to reach the same level DOES NOT WORK. this game has exponential and linear scaling - you CANNOT joke around with such things (or you shouldnt, GGG does that with disastrous consequences).
Simple fixes - Kinetic Blast releases explosions on final hit. Barrage has a slight cone increase the more arrows you have.

Balance
Abyss jewels and items. Was that some sort of a lost bet or something? Really the only way to make players to play the game is to bribe them with stupid crap like Lightpoacher? REALLY?

2 hander vs 1h situation is pathetic. Have anyone really thought that current list of shaper/elder rolls for 2 handers is ok? there is not a single roll that benefits pure phys builds. and most of the remaining ones are jokes. not to mention that simple fake dual wield 1h + shaper sceptre deals more damage than Atziri's Disfavour..

Development priorities
Right now it looks like 'release a turd' and when people realize it stinks 'cover the old turd with new fresh turd'.. latest 'skill rework' is exactly that. 'We have failed several times with skill reworks (Lightning Tendrills) so we will happily try that again but on a larger scale!'

Just change f.. numbers. With current 'success streak' out of 10 reworks 2 will be OP, 2 will be 'ok', 5 will be pointless because uber-version of said skill exists and one will not work.

Same with new 'types of mechanics' and 'new everything'. Aspects.. these are heralds but for some reason you didnt want to use that name and created new 'type'. Why? Why bloat the game mechanics when perfectly fine mechanics (identical to the point) exist already?

Magic Find
This cancer slowly invalidates everything else.. but this is far lesser problem than the happy-go-nutty approach to balance.

Game with joke balance cannot have a serious content nor serious challenge. POE 'end-game' is either almost impossible (melee RT.. lol) or a total joke (Guardian, life RF).
You CAN loose at character selection screen. This is unacceptable for a serious game. And failing to fix that makes the game shallow shadow of its former self. Sure, there are many (like 10?) build types that can happily and effortlessly farm the endgame. but 1000s (properly built and played) builds simply cannot get there - because game has to be tuned to cover the turds of the past.

Do not produce new turds please. Change %phys damage gained as element to LOCAL mods already.
eradicator boss-fight.

compared to other guardians:
constrictor (woohoo, chaos-/poison-based, beware!), completely trivialized by pantheon or just a posion-immune flask.
enslaver: nasty ignite, but again: completely countered by flask or other immunities,
purifier ... what does the guy actually do? complete push-over.


but then theres the eradicator:

zapping my jugg for 3/4 of his life randomly, going into a immunity-state while, again, lightning is zapping down on you from everywhere, his lightning-tendrils cover the entire room with no safespot, if you use a quicksilver or movement-skill you cant even outrun it, you will only run into your death faster as he seems to anticipate where you are going, it is completely random BS.
and then there is just random lightning zapping you.
if you get him in the arena with lightning-pillars and he does his tendrils - its just certain death, he doesnt even require LoS.
and no flask or whatever counters him like the other guardians can be countered.

harder than elder or shaper. with both of these you understand their abilities and can minimalize damage taken if played correctly.

eradicator is just random bullsh*t. no clear visual queues either; just lightning-fireworks all over the entire arena, gotta dodge that ALL, hm?


Been playing this game a long time, Supported it via MTX purchases over the years. It was honestly really good.

The thing is, I feel at least that GGG has gotten into the habit of adding new content, rather than working on the old.

A few main issues I have with the game in it's current state.

First one being that there is TOO many variables on items nowadays. Without constant research of item prefix's and suffix's you have no chance at determining item value. Used to be that Maximum Life + Tri resists were considered fairly top tier rares, now you have to deal with shaper and elder mods, enchantments and the whole T1-T12 rolls on items. Even the Leagues sometimes have specific things to keep track of.

It makes things far more complicated than it needs to be, and far more RNG based than it needs to be. Crafting almost doesn't exist anymore because of how much RNG is in rares now, you spam currency on it, rather than thinking carefully about what you want and how to achieve it.

Be nice to see it this shit reduced. It just seems to grow each year.

Second issue I have with the game is.. More and more items added on a pretty regular basis. New items, new currencies, 150+ maps? lul. You already need to deal with Chaos recipe because of shit drop rates, you have to deal with other recipes like skill gems, many players have a store with a premium tab, Essences, and this season we also have bestiary orbs and nets.

When are they going to increase standard tab size instead of just expecting everyone to keep buying more and more tabs? When are they going to increase inventory capacity? What about having a quick bar for portals, wisdom and things like nets? Would get it out of your inventory, and even just 3 or 4 spots saved would make a huge difference.

I dunno, it just seems like they add things and keep adding things and we just keep running out of space to put them. Sure you can just pass them up, but many of these things have potential for good returns. Pretty much making it mandatory to buy more than just 3 or 4 tabs, especially for things like maps and essences.

I'm so sick of all these League mechanic's being stuck behind a currency sink. Zana is a bullshit master and the only reason people play her stupid map mods is to profit from things like Headhunter.

Like, I don't understand why they put all this fucking work into these different Leagues only to put them on the back burner after they're over. Maybe seeing a bit of a toned down version of it. Take prophecy League, used to be when it was running that you could get a shit ton of silver coins, now you barely get any. Be lucky to see one silver coin in 2, 3 or even 4 maps sometimes. Breach is another one, yeah we see a breach every now and then, but it used to be 2 or 3 per every other zone or map. Now I'm not saying that we need to have everything in the game at the levels they used to be, but most that are now in the game are just too underwhelming.

Would be nice to see things become more of a part of the game than they currently are. Would make things more interesting by far, ESPECIALLY while leveling. Be nice to see things like Nemesis and Perandus just have a chance at naturally happening again. Just imagine entering a zone at level 40 and there's a breach, a perandus chest and it has a tempest and a short prophecy for you to complete.

How much more enjoyable would things be for you? Imagine this in maps.. and not just rolling them or paying for them, having them naturally spawn. At a somewhat semi-regular basis.

Trading.. Oh god how is it this bad without effort being put in to improving it?

You can spend hours trying to trade currency, or buy an item because of pricefixers, scammers, afk's. It's a grind this game doesn't need. The game already has grinding maps, grinding master xp, grinding currency, grinding Elder, Shaper, Essences, Chaos recipe items, grinding levels.

Just give us a god damn break for once. We essentially already have a poorly implemented version of player stores, all I'm asking is that GGG man up and stop worrying about the economy in what's essentially a SINGLE PLAYER PVE GAME, and give players a QoL feature that will cut hours upon hours out of their grind. Chris once said he wanted this game to be playable for people that only have 30 minutes to maybe an hour to play. Well.. this is one way to go about doing it.

Make it so we can sell offline, make it so that players can search for, and buy in-game. Give us price history and maybe even a recommended item price. QoL factor of this game would go up 10 fold.

If they're so worried about it making the game too easy, then make the game harder, make it take some skill. Too many builds can clear a map in 3 minutes, slow it down, make it more dangerous, more rewarding. Stop gimping us because of stuff that's totally within your power to change.

Uniques, my god are so many of them just fucking trash. I get that this game needs a variety of uniques across all levels, I do. However the sheer amount of items that are utterly useless, even for leveling is just astounding. BUFF THEM!!! Stop adding in new uniques and take a bit of time to work on the older ones. Maybe add more fated uniques, even two phase fated uniques which could allow a few lower level items to be upgradable for late game use.

It would open up a few new builds for sure, and might open peoples eyes to using some of these uniques later on for leveling or for builds. Things like Queen's Decree and Escape getting upgrades for end-game use, or even just some of the many boots and gloves and helms that are almost good enough, but not quite to take up a slot.

I just don't understand why a company would be complacent in doing all this work making these items, only to have like what, 1 out of every 9 or 10 of them go unused in any even somewhat significant way. like 800 or 900 uniques and maybe 50 have any real value in game. I'm not saying they all need to be viable, but it would be nice to see that 50 usuable turn into say 125, with another 20 used sometimes in niche builds. The rest can be for leveling.

Drop rates and RNG. Okay, I get it.. People have a chance at getting a good item. They have a chance at getting currency, a chance at seeing a cartographers.

That chance however. Is too fucking low. That's the only way to put it. This game isn't playable casually like.. at all, unless you're on standard and EVEN THEN it's piss poor playable.

I have spent, no joke probably 12-14 hours of almost every day for the past 3 weeks playing this game whilst I've been in the hospital. I have gotten jack fucking shit for that time played aside from a Taste of Hate and some other item I don't remember what it was, but it sold for like 35c. So around 150c worth of drops. The only money I'm making otherwise is selling random jewels that drop for like 4-5 chance orbs at best because majority of them are shit because 40,000,000 possible prefixes on them. It wasn't until today, of running easily 70 or 80 maps a day for the past 2 fucking weeks that I even laid eyes on a cartographers strongbox for my challenge, Yet I've seen at least 15 unique strongboxes.

The RNG in this game is a fucking joke. At this point you'd be better off implementing a trade limit and buffing drop-rates to match what is essentially a single player game. Or possibly implementing a system that's PRND instead of RNG. Essentially, it works similar to RNG but for every bad roll, the chance gets slightly higher next time. So instead of farming 100 maps and getting no return, it ups the chances slightly, so that by the time you hit your 40th map you have a decentish chance at seeing something drop. This way grind is rewarded, and not entirely a chore. This could work wonders with the current map drop system. Helping sustain without having to buff your maps with 3 sextants, elder, and 120 iiq.



This game, because of this RNG is almost completely unplayable by even a semi-casual player. It requires insane amounts of time invested for most players, and is frustrating and unfair because of it. This doesn't help player retention at all, and is more likely to get people to quit than anything else. You want MTX sales? Make a game that people enjoy playing. They'll naturally support your game then. I know I'm more willing to spend money on a game I enjoy than one that's become a hardcore grindfest extravaganza with little to no return for the time invested.



BTW, it's been TWO years, yes TWO years since my last exalt drop. Last one dropped in Prophecy League when I was farming Merc Ledge to level. Haven't seen once since. RNG at it's finest, and yet there's people getting 6 links in 2 fusings and other people getting headhunters within their first 100 or so chance orbs.




I really don't know with GGG, seems like they don't have much of a plan for anything and seem to have excuses for everything that needs work. We're only now seeing skill reworks, years after most of them were gutted and nerfed to the ground by GGG. Doesn't really instill much confidence in the company.

I'll stop ranting, there's probably a few more things I forgot to mention but they're minor compared to what I did.

This game is good, but it's covered in shit. Time to wipe that shit off and let this game shine.

5) mtx listed for full price (should be hidden cause it's a trap)

well, league was nice (it wasnt; new ascendancies were only reason to play)
same sh*t every time i reach late-game in a league: cheap oneshots, pseudo-"skill-based" bosses, a TIER 15 elder dropping gloves for the 6th time....

and then, the final straw: losing a shaper due to the second undying being OBSTRUCTED BY TREES and insta shotgunning me.

i have written this post every league, ffs, GGG your bosses SUCK, sorry. if you want me to dodge stuff or not stand in lethal aoe, THEN DONT PUT A GIANT TREE ACROSS MY MONITOR.
oh, but you can also do the opposite...somehow i managed to even die to the lvl74 crab-boss, ROFL. second time around, first time was a no-brainer loot-pinata, easy game, easy loots. i image what killed me was some of those TINY fountains that are as TINY AS THEY ARE TRANSLUCENT, i wasnt even aware of them.

maybe have your mtx-designers do the bossfights and their visuals, at least these guys know how to signify stuff.

sick and tired of your "endgame", your "bosses", i have given objective and elaborate descriptions of why it factually sucks like three times, whatever.

you are acting like "noone at the office could defeat uber-elder, boohoo- such hard boss, look we put the 2 lategame-bosses into 1 fight, what ingenuity, next time well throw in an uber-atziri or abaxoth for even more better boss-design, better watch out platinum-games, we are coming for you!"
and then, like 48 hours later, people are trivializing said "impossible" boss-fight in double-boss-mode, rofl.

MAKE UP YOUR MIND: are boss-encounters supposed to be skill-based? so then design them in a way that they require skill ONLY and ignore players stats/ gear.
are they supposed to be simple dps-/ defence-checks? then make that clear and get rid of their "skills" and dont lure people into thinkig they could defeat a boss based on skill, when all it takes is broken items and stat-sticks.

noone is giving a damn anyways, the guys at GGG who are designing the bosses are the only ones, LOL.

search the internet for "poe bossfights"
you wont find advanced strategies or guides. only showcases of players taking down "lategame-bosses" within seconds, completely ignoring and circumventing any mechanics that boss might have.
HE MIGHT AS WELL BE A TRAINING-DUMMY WITH x MILLIONS HP, thats the bottom-line.

search the internet for bayonetta-, dark souls, DMC, whatever boss-fights and you get the opposite results:
player showcasing skill and creativity, taking bosses on naked or on lvl1 characters or whatever.





peace out, time to revisit bayonetta or try kingdome come, skillbased-games with functional gameplay.

glad i didnt buy packs and i wont till you fundamentally adjust your boss-design to fit the genre and playstyle, sorry.
