PoE already shrinking/dead?
" Okay I see. To me it's more fun to deny my opponent farm by killing him or forcing him to go back to base :D GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

Right. So you were probably posting these as I was typing mine. I'll accept that.
Baseline: any further discussion of games that aren't PoE or at least posts that do not somehow relate to PoE in some way will result in a time-out. If I like a game, it'll either be amazing later or awful forever. There's no in-between.

I think it's the desyncs and most of the people are coming from casual gaming experiences compared to a hard ARPG so yeah, you can see it by all the WoW suggestions lol

This game is far from dead: I'm still playing it.....;)
What I like about POE is that it's different: it makes you think, it makes you plan and it makes you build (not find or buy) your gear. Little kiddies who can't handle that should go to Blizzdumb and play Pandas or AH tycoon. |

" I dont get it. So many games out there and developers and u had to blame Blizzard for all the bad stuff in the world? What the fuck WoW has anything to do with PoE?? Dernière édition par Godlike2013#2219, le 16 févr. 2013 à 19:54:57

Lots of speculation, not much data.
![]() This plot shows the decline in player interest of a number of popular games over their first 11 weeks of life. The data is from google trends which gauges the search volume for specific terms on a daily basis. Specifically, the numbers represent weekend (peak) search volume. You can see how dramatically the numbers fall off before settling out. Some even fall below 10% of their peak but none even end up above 40% (discounting obvious exceptional cases). The black dashed line shows the average while the solid black line shows PoE's numbers so far. It's sitting over 10% above the average which is quite good especially if you notice that games above average largely continue to remain above average. Of course this is an indirect measurement. These aren't actual player numbers and there's no way we could get that data anyway but I think it's reasonable to assume that the search volume and the player volume are tied closely together. It's also important to remember that the games are not plotted on an absolute axis relative to each other. Therefore, even though Diablo 3 ends up at the bottom with 7%, that 7% still represents a significantly larger search volume than many of the other games had at 100%. In that sense, it's almost better to look at this chart as a way of measuring launch hype versus actual product quality. I find that the numbers make more sense when approached from that perspective. If you'd like a fairly direct comparison, PoE and Torchlight 2 had very similar search volume at their launch (PoE had slightly more). You can see how much more quickly Torchlight 2 declined compared with PoE considering their relatively equal starting position. Hopefully this gives some more perspective and a more solid grounding to the discussion. You can go back and forth about this or that but without actual numbers it's really just meaningless. Of course, we all new that PoE's population would decline significantly following launch. The real question is where it'll level out and if GGG can continue to grow that base population over the long term. While still early, I think these first few weeks bode well for the game. This is a niche game and it will never have a large lasting playerbase(By AAA standards). I don't think many people had the idea of anything other though.

" The drop off is as players make it into Merciless and realize they didn't pick one of the 3 or 4 truly viable builds that are available at the moment. |
