You realize HoN is run by S2, which is literally the worst fucking company ever right?
And the moment S2 tried to copy LoL's F2P model, the game went to shit...
If that's the analogy you want to go by... By all means, go ahead.
LoL = D3 the most popular BY FAR...
Dota = D2 the grandfather...
HoN = PoE= Decent closed beta, game went to shit real fast, the moment the company running it was more worried about their MicroT shop than the actual game.
Actually that makes sense... Nice analogy.
Haha what? I guess you're a LoL or Dota2 fanboy with no knowledge. HoN is bigger and better than it has EVER been. It's growing every single day. More and more players and more tournaments! Over 120'000 online etc.

Well, it's not that big of a game. Lone-wolf RPG player-types (which many are) might give up soloing after cruel cuz of the difficulty or a too diverse passive tree.
Torchlight 2 online blew up and dropped back pretty quick too.
Where did you get that information? Torchlight 2 is way up on its original playerbase and is totally thriving. It is currently the 17th most played Steam game, which is the highest position it has ever been since its first week back in late September. [I have been tracking it carefully because I have vested interests and wanted to prove a point with someone, but anyway...]
The devs on TL2 listen to their playerbase and react accordingly, and the figures show it.
Did you know level 91 is the halfway point to level 100? This means that a softcore character dying ONCE at level 85+ can lose many days of progress.

As Arenanet said when they developed the first Guild Wars ... They never expected players would carry on playing the game for the long term. They expected that most players would play until they finished the game, and then leave. Their plan was to release the full expansion packs regularly which they believed would then bring those players back to play the new content until they finished it.
What really happened was that people loved the game and wanted to no life it. They demanded more end game PVE content and stuff to do, so then Anet added in all those grimdtastic titles.
And then I played GW2 and hated it.
lol gw2 was a great game, its too bad that we dont have character progression and the end game is nothing but wvw and dungeon run...
and back to topic poe is a great game but the problem is that :
- we are very limited on the things that we can do once you hit a wall.
- melee being not viable or have harder time to progress at higher level
- melee dont bring anything at all in parties compared to ranged ! ( reason why i do most of my run solo is cause of this ) witch ice spear, archer lightning arrow and even templar power siphon will deal much more damage than any dex melee skill.
- most people hit a wall and they get lazy to figure out the problem and start over.
- no in game guild system.
- dsync ( almost lose my character cause of this, and if i did lose my character cause of dsync i probably would've quit as well lol )
- some people having problem with drop rate for playing solo, thus forcing them to party and get ninja looted ( happens to me and yes its annoying )
my suggestion and fix :
- buff melee skill/weapon and nerf ranged/magic abilities ( melee skill should deal 2x if not 3x more damage than ranged abilities ).
- nerf totem or at least put cool down on it..totem atm is just beyond ridiculous.
- fix dsync.
- put a limit to party ( maximum 3 ). Psychology study shows that the more stranger we work with, the less we care about each other.
- increase map drop rate.
- fix to glass cannon is easy ( increase hp gain from leveling ).
- reduce merciless and cruel resistance reduction ( should be 30 % for cruel and 50 % for merciless)
- reduce life nodes % on marauder tree.
- fix resolute technique ( it should be something like gain 50 % more accuracy ) rt is the reason why ground slam even considered op.
- buff duelist starting nodes.
thats all i have atm

Too subtle for me - going to have to explain that in more detail...
Basically Diablo 3/ LoL is just meant for casual fun, nothing serious everyone has fun. Really popular among plebs.
Diablo 2/Dota everyone has played them, everyone loves them. The classics.
PoE/HoN great games, red headed step children of their genres. Can't be popular among today's gaming crowds where little windows pop up every time you enter a room telling you what to do.
That's a laugh since LoL is way better than DotA2 and HoN is a joke. In gameplay terms. LoL is by far the deepest of the three in tactical and strategic terms as well. BY FAR.

lol you serious ?
league of legend is a bad game...i can tell you many reason why league has more playerbase than the other moba, but gameplay wise dota 2 is the best out of all 3
fyi there is no melee carries in competitive LoL

ROFL... The least popular of the "3"...
The worst run company of the "3"...
And I'm the fanboy?
I play all 3(my Gold Shield prolly shows a join date 2 years before you even heard HoN, I'm assuming you joined when it went F2P, ROFL, wouldn't be shocked, that's basically the only people left playing)... And HoN is the worst off, by FAR.
Your lack of knowledge of the genre is astounding... But then again, you're just a delusional fanboy.
Also... HoN started off as PURE DOTA CLONE, notice the game died when they weren't allowed to port more DotA heroes.
Notice the game died the moment 2.0 hit, when they stopped copying DotA and then had to come up with their own ideas(err, actually first they tried to copy/paste LoL's model)... Notice the actual "good" competitive players left for Dota2/LoL.
Ya... I'm the fanboy.
Might want to look in a mirror buddy...

.. idk I left LoL for DotA2 because DotA2 has more funny things you can do whereas LoL b4 they started revamping items like mad it was all the same bs every round. If you're support its aegis, shurelyas and wards. seriously if you did anythign different you're a crap support, and you should have a stun or something + flash and heal or ignite or exhaust zz.
Same goes for carry Black Cleaver/Infinity Edge ghost walk + flash or flash ignite. Every nuker went the the AP hat that gave a crap ton of ap like without it you're just a garbage nuker. zz... more structured bs like last whisper late game, and void staff also are a must if you want to get through anyone's magres or armor.
DoTA2 support i can go force staff, wards, hex scythe, refresher orb, blink dagger, who knows, aghanims, mekansm, gem of true sight. all situational dependant, not some structured game format of checkers.
LoL is too structured, Dota2 is more freedom. I've played both for over 500 games. LoL for over 2000.
LoL isn't that deep.
As for HoN... uh yeah no, worst community ever, clusterfuck of a UI and shop, and well I played one game and smurfing idiots were like omg noob go uninstall and I was like okay np. crap game anyways.
And PoE is != HoN, if anything it's more like DoTA or LoL if the Nide is to make that comparison.
Tell me I don't know anything because for some reason I have a legacy account on HoN and played it before Dota2 came out and League of Legends went overboard on heroes and new modes and items.
HoN decided to stay crappy.
Some noob always complaining... hoping things get better. Dernière édition par KradisZ#5121, le 16 févr. 2013 à 15:44:57

Yeah...I wouldn't make that comparison
in HoN the entire friendly team will kick you if you joined a game and didn't play like you came from the MLGs.
They'll have some bad things to say about your mother to boot.
Come to think of it, kinda sounds like PoE, nevermind.

TL2 devs dont listen to their playerbase any more than GGG does. I followed that game very closely, many core game principles (no respec) stayed the same no matter how much the community whined. Runic stuck to their guns on ALL of their core design principles. The only suggestions they took were the ones they felt enhanced the game and went along with their vision.
Its the same with GGG. Good developers wont change their design philosophy on a whim.
TL2 is a different kind of ARPG, and its on Steam. Its success mainly has to do with the fact that its
1. a sequel
2. on Steam
3. Easier to get into.
