F2P hurts & limits POE's potential..
I don't see the dilemma. For one thing, that's rather subjective. For the most part, I mostly avoid mtx's because I think they're unnecessary and/or tacky. Not that there aren't a few that I like. Personally, I'd rather buy more stash tabs.
When it comes down to it, I'd rather have core fixes to the game. Like most of the stuff being delivered in act 4. Better netcode, optimization, more game content and so forth. Maybe a few tweaks to the skills and skill tree here and there. |

" Once again, you must not have read my post. I said I know f2p games make more money now, & makes more people play. But it makes certain content mainly through only paying instead of earning it a rewarding way. |

I think it's great that PoE is F2P. It gives people who don't want to spend money a chance at enjoying the game (benefits the economy, the parties, the community, etc.) and they don't have to make their business model about releasing expansions every couple of years. The current model allows for recurring revenue and they seem to be making the model work for them fairly well.
With recurring revenue, they can continue to release new content. To use another industry example, take a look at how Diablo has progressed. Exactly 1 expansion a few years after release with new content and now most of their development team is being scrapped to work on other Blizzard projects. If Diablo had a means to generate recurring revenue, they wouldn't have this problem. On the other side of the coin, without recurring revenue, the only incentive they have to work is to generate content for the next expansion. Would you rather see a game with content every couple of months or a game with content every couple of years? IGN: Blaze_Ember

" Your title clearly states "potential". If ggg makes more money there is more potwntial for poe to grow bigger. Simply cause you would prefer free shit to earn by killing atziri, or whatever other way you prefer, doesnt mean poe has less potential to grow by using the existing pricing model. Hell, I loved the free armor i got by playing cause my budget doesnt allow me to buy points anymore, im not running around saying they should drop their way of making MORE money, simply so that i can get more free pixels. Not saying you shouldnt either, just my 2 c(haos)... |

MOST of the mtx's do not fit my own personal preferences when it comes to aesthetics. To put it another way, I find many of them pretty much ugly and silly-looking (not as bad as the ridiculous cartoonish fantasy graphics Blizzard proudly jams into all of their games). The exceptions aren't cool enough to merit buying.
Except a ferret pet. I bought that. Ferrets are awesome. It's really stash tabs that are the most important mtx - it's very difficult to play PoE seriously without buying any stash tabs (although I do know a guy who did it through the use of a very confusing system of storage characters. He could never find anything). Still not pay to win tho. Anyway, I would never have played PoE if it weren't free. Now I play it all the time, and I've given GGG money for stash tabs and a ferret. That's kind of illustrative of their business model... We're all in this leaky boat together, people.
