F2P hurts & limits POE's potential..

EDIT: Sorry guys I accidentally submitted when not ready.. There is a lot more things I was gonna put & a lot of typos to fix & proof reading to do.. This is heavily WIP.
But I'd like to know what you guys think & if you think in the long run F2P is worse for POE than B2P/P2P?

When I first came across POE in BETA I thought wow! This game is free 2 play & offers more complex & unique things than diablo 3 does. This is the game Diablo 3 should have been! And the fact that it's F2P is even more amazing. But the longer I played I realized just how much F2p actually hurts GGG's potential. I'll explain below.

1: Microtransactions - There is nothing pay to win at all in POE & I respect GGG so much for that. BUT with microtransactions this means all the cool things you see aren't earned through hard work/skill. It's just using you or your parents hard earned money. I know guys, I know.. "THEN DON'T BUY ANYTHING, NOBODY IS FORCING YOU!" I understand this. But just because noone is forcing you doesn't mean it's still not disappointing that all the cool stuff isn't earned through doing certain achievements in the game but instead just spending real money. Imagine those bad ass Tentacle wings is actually earned from slaying a very hard/rare unique boss & it has the chance of dropping those badass wings. Wouldn't you be waaay more hyped if you just got those awesome rare wings through actually playing the game & feeling rewarded instead of just spending real money on them? You see that guy with those wings on & you think damn that's awesome he defeated "name here"! Instead of oh that's cool, he bought the tentacle wings from the cash shop. They look nice. And of course this wouldn't just be for the wings. More awesome unique looking weapons, armour, weapon skins, ways to actually earn the pets, ETC.

2: Content - This one is sort of similar to Micros in a way. But there would be a lot more content if GGG's game wasn't free. We would have ways to earn that cool armour, wings, weapon skins. For example in Guild Wars 2 or some other MMO's when you done everything what is there to do? Goals. Get that sick legendary weapon, badass armour looks/cosmetics from certain dungeons etc. If we had a way to get all of this stuff through actual encounters in the game I would be a lot more motivated to get on and go for my goals. I know plenty of people who get bored of POE after a while & say theres nothing really to do. That's where HC/RACES plays a big part in my opninion & gives you a reason to play. But in the end it starts to become boring as well. Because theres no real goal. And in my opinion this is where GGG could fix that if they gave us a lot more goals to getting our awesome alternate effects, weapon skins, armour, quest/mission for pets, ETC.

Don't they already kinda do that with race rewards like Demigod's presence? There was something for the first 50 to kill Atziri too, I believe?

I used to wish PoE would become a pay to play type of deal, but since they're adding lockstep determination and increasing their servers to accommodate this, they must be doing alright.
No. Calm down. Learn to enjoy losing.
I don't see why you couldn't incorporate these sorts of accomplishment mtx under the free to play model currently in use. What is stopping GGG from posting a reward for first x number of people to accomplish y goal get z mtx, or so much mtx currency in the next league? Rewards don't need to just be for races. They could be for the 1, 2, 3 month leagues.

I'd be perfectly fine if PoE used a sub model like WoW. I'd pay 10 bucks a month no problem.
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.

you would.

other people (like me) would not.

Please elaborate on how it's unfounded? Of course people don't like to pay. And I'm also against a monthly fee, but they could do a lot more. I know for a fact a lot of people would hate paying, but my statement is not unfounded. It's actually true. Please explain how it isn't? Games that are F2P and offer cool things through microtransactions takes away a lot of the potential they can do. Like in league of legends if it wasn't a f2p game the skins could be earned through achievements, mastery system. This is just one example of how F2P games ruin the potential they have. Of course they will probably get more people being F2p. I'm not even saying F2p is better for GGG. I'm just saying the fact that it is F2p ruins a lot of potential. That's a fact..
You are stating it is a fact, but you aren't bringing forth any supporting evidence, or citing examples where their model limits them in any ways that a subscription model doesn't.

Again, just because the game is free to play, I don't see how any of your examples aren't still possible.

I'm not saying it is or isn't limiting, but stating it is and asking us to take you on your word is...asking a lot.

What can't they do under the free to play model, but could under a monthly subscription model?

As Charan always reminds me when I complain about how I wish PoE had a ten dollar price tag. This ship has long since sailed. We'll never know if we are better or worse off for it.

You mean like the armour sets they gave away in the one months a couple weeks ago?

Similar in idea, yes. It doesn't have to be resigned to specific events either. It could be a reward for everyone who accomplished certain goals. Sorta like badges of honor.
