If anything, it should be a random draw. They're no different to those who don't stream. If you're going to do this, you might as well sell access for $10 or something so it's fair for everyone.
It's like on one of ZiggyD's videos he sounded so sure he was going to get in. You shouldn't be depending on streamers so much. I could imagine you losing players if all of the main streamers get access due to it not being fair at all.
Thoughts?
ZiggyD is a joke compared to other streamers, "testing" already great working posted builds and showing it off as his "work" is just laughable, and the lack of insight can be seen in the podcasts.
I have nothing against people like Zeno, Mathil, Ghuuda, Havoc, Hegemony, Helman getting early acces and testing their build ideas and pushing the game to its limit to prepare it for us all on release tbh. They do a great service with getting PoE out in the world and fishing in new players, why not give them a chance to promote it further.
Totally agree with you. Mad respects to Mathil though.

As much as I myself do not enjoy Ziggy's content I can appreciate his efforts to bring a more analytic and objective perspective to a younger gaming audience. I think he is a very positive influence in this community and gaming in general.
In the end I dont care who gets in etc. as long as the job gets done.

what do you have against Ziggy
Nothing, he's just a good example.
No one deserves beta access more than another. It's for TESTING after all. It's not like streaming can help test. If someone signed up for CBT, they obviously want it just as much as the streamers. It should be a completely random pick so it's fair for everyone.
Randomness isn't fair. In fact it's the opposite of fair
if all outcomes have the same probability for everyone, randomness IS, by definition, 'fair'.
there's a reason a term 'fair coin' exists.

Don't mind me, just taking my streamer privilege for a walk.

Likely myself and most other streamers that take the initiative to reach out the GGG and have a consistent viewer-base in the double digits will be in the beta. Ignoring the obvious marketing benefits the exposure will bring the game a streamer also has a unique angle when it comes to beta testing - we get 100's of eyes with 100's of different points of view looking at the same thing. Streamers get to act as a conduit for the testing and opinions of many people all at once.
Think of all the times you miss something - a chaos here, a nuance of a text there. With 100's of people watching that stuff gets called to attention and discussed as a group.
I plan on providing as much of the different style of testing and feedback as I can.
I cannot think of a good reason why GGG shouldn't take advantage of the exposure and unique testing methods of streamers - but then I am bias in this regard.

I was talking about this with someone, do you remember what the peak amount of viewers on Twitch was, when Forsaken Masters was released? I remembered some 5500, though I'm not sure

Cannot recall. I capped out at a couple thousand I think and I'm pretty sure Willy had similar so that sounds pretty reasonable when you add on everyone else as well. Ofc, there was a brief spot where Kripp streamed and it shot up before the servers got the lizard's squads attention.

RIGHT! I remember that. Didn't the DDOS cause Havoc to rip?

A LOT of people died that day. I do believe HVC was one of them.

A streamer is still a player though. GGG Shouldn't be favouring one player over another for any reason. It's that simple really.
It's like if Chris gave ZiggyD a mirror no one would be happy. Replace mirror with CBT Access.
Even allowing those with the highest play time per 24h in first would be a lot more fair than this.
