1500 fusings to Vorici 6L is a noob trap

Seriously, to do this you've either got to be so rich that it's a drop in the bucket, or have incredibly bad luck.

Back in beta, I used to hear so many horror stories of 6L failures that it put me off trying. I'd roll 5L and just leave it at that unless it 6 linked before 5 linking.

I reinstalled halfway through the last leagues after a bit of a hiatus, and have had a lot more of a "carpe diem" (because "yolo" is for plebs) attitude about using my orbs.
In the last 3-4 weeks, I have 6 linked a few items (determined to 6L and continuing to roll on any 5L because it may as well be unlinked ;) never coming anywhere near 1000 fusings let alone 1500.

about 120 fusings

36 fusings

Around 150 each

And a spine bow, that I use for gem leveling on weapon switch with enlighten, in ONE fusing.

And with all this success, I have not had a single item that I've burned lots of fusings on and failed. All but the spine bow were done without using scraps/whetstones for quality.


So am I just incredibly lucky (consistently), or are the fusing chances actually a lot better than this pesimistic community has led me to believe?

My poor Lightning Coil has swallowed at least 3000 fusings so far :(

OH GOD WOE IS ME, why did I not save my fusings and use Vorici instead of pissing them away in lots of 30/40/50.

On average 1500 is an overprice, but it is certain. So it is a matter of risk aversion. Personally I don't think I will ever use it myself, but you never know :)

It's a bit of the first, combined with your apparent lack of understanding of how probability works. But basically, four items 6-linked is not enough to form the basis of a conclusion as far as number of fuses required over the long term.

Been playing for a few years now and have never 6 linked anything. I have dropped thousands of fusing and made dozens of 5 links. This season I am saving up 1500 and taking the sure thing.

Not succeeding in 1500 tries is 22% chance, so it not incredibly bad luck. It is just a bit of bad luck.

I probably understand statistics and probability at least as well as you do (see, I can make assumptions too).
But let's "go science" anyway...
A theory is supported by evidence supporting vs evidence against, and so far I have collected this and more evidence for, while not personally experiencing the "fusing nightmare" even once. Hearsay has no place in science, I can only go by what I witness personally.
And you have made another false assumption, as I've been playing since the start of OB, and as there was a complete wipe at the end of CB, I'm not sure how much more "long-term" can apply to PoE. I listed the FIVE (not 4) items from the last month only, I didn't mention the belly I 6 linked in 3 fusings a year ago, or other items I linked back in beta, etc.
I seldom trade except to buy, never flip, and don't farm docks/Dominus/whatever with IIR/IIQ to get lots of "wealth", I only run incidental IIR (equipping the item for it's other stats), and roll a new character every week or two with the items/wealth I do find. It's not like I play the market and sit there all day crafting/linking stuff, sell it, rinse and repeat, I just play the game and fuse things as any run of the mill casual would with the orbs he/she finds in maps.
Why do you think this makes my experiences invalid?

Agree with OP. Please lower Vorici 6L cost to 150 fuses.
