Realistically how bad are the counter attack gems going to be?

-5 sec cooldown
-reserves 15% of your mana
-stops current actions
-locks you in place

I couldn't be more disappointed to find out they are just more trigger gems. A type of gem I already consider a cancer on PoE.

And what does this exaclty fixes ? I don't see the point yet ...

It is just better to have the inmortal call setup and just keep on DPS'ing as always has been. That does not fix any of the melee problems to my understanding.
well considering they should have been passive nodes, and not these stupid gems, they are very bad, LOL.

I hope they aren't bad, I hope they are fun and at least comparable to the current cwdt combinations.

Right now I run all 3 of my 4Ls as cwdt, one for immortal call endu cry inc dur, one for minion spam skele zombie spectre, and one for some random fun spells like enfeeble molten shell blood rage. That plus tri herald makes tanking a rave laser show.

The actions they grant are not fixing the core problem of melee. Damage mitigation should be way stronger for chars that decide to go melee as they are taking the damage face to face.

Even a ranged char can take more advantage of CWDT IC combo than a melee. A melee always receive the first hit. If you are doing ubers and receive a hit for 8K because block failed, you are DEAD, not even IC can do anything about it.

So what the hell are those gems fixing ? If you are dead you can't counter attack !

Kinda also wondering how they work with cast on crit???

I'm also wondering if you'll have to link melee support gems with them to make them useful.
I'm not sure I'd be willing to set up a 4 link for them outside of low lvl dueling.
Just talking loosely without considering very much, my answer would be: Bad.

Cannot be depended on, and if getting hit is the way you kill, then you won't be clearing anything fast.

They may be best for pure tank builds that have a hard time doing any damage at all, and they just fucked those builds up hard, so it seems they take away defensive power and give offensive in return which means that being a tank just got worse, since if you wanted to trade your defenses for offense you would have simply build more offensively to begin with..

We will see how it goes though, wait for the patch.

Let's be honest, if you build relies almost completely on block to not die to a single attack type... its a bad build.
