When people don't reply because they are AFK, or show as online but really aren't, or don't reply because they are in a master chain, or Lab, or map party that is full that they don't feel like leaving... The game and its trading just feels like crap.


Creating new characters means needing to buy stuff, and when trading is so un-enjoyable, it makes for an extremely un-fun experience.

The system is broken and needs fixing. Thankfully GGG is working on... something.

Asynchronous Trading, where you don't have to be in a party, and where you don't have to be online at the same time even should help for those items you want "whenever".

I'd love to see an icon that shows the number of available trade offers. I'd love to be able to sell by just hitting "accept", and without any of the other hassle. If someone offers you "20c" on an item you wanted "30c" for, then being able to offer back say "25c" would be the ideal. This could happen in real time if both players are online, but would still work even if both players never log in at the same time.

But, yes, for the "need it now" things, there should be ways to tell when the player last acted, if he's currently afk, and if he's ignoring trade requests.

When you want something "now", trading in POE is a nightmare.

Lol, would also be funny if sellers had a reputation, and thus you could steer clear of those who are trouble.

If your searching for a niche jewel or a rare with super specific stats, you might have some slowdowns.



AFK disconnect shouldn't be a thing for various reasons, summoners is likely the largest reason. API improvement should be able to show online and ACTIVE not just online. Once you trigger the afk thing it should reflect that in the API somehow, so you can force it or the game forces it automatically by you not moving, ect.

The downside to this is if people dont search for this "online but afk thing" then the apps that send messages to peoples phones when they get a PM becomes less useful, despite them still being available for trade, they simply might be cooking and not playing, hence the afk.



As for trading, don't ever try to really trade for like an hour or two after the masters reset, you know people will be doing rotations and you only lead yourself to frustration.

As for just no replies, depends on the price of item, if its under 5c, they may assume you've moved on and don't wanna leave. Personally i don't sell items under 2c because it isnt worth the effort to leave the map or worry about trading them later.

As for asynchronous trading, not sure, if it becomes too easy to be used it will become automated, we want to avoid this.

As for just hitting accept, not sure that is ever a wise idea, the trade style window has protections in place to prevent swapping of things.


As for reputations, its too difficult to police so they simply won't do it.

I AFK with the client open frequently. When I get back I always go to logs, check all of my messages, and get back to everyone that wanted to buy something while I was gone. Sometimes the person isn't around by the time I get back, sometimes they've purchased something else already, but often they still need my item and we end up making a deal.

If the game had an AFK timer none of those trades would happen at all, and all of the people I end up trading with would still be searching for their items. I'm sure some of them were frustrated that I wasn't available immediately, but don't you think they appreciate the opportunity to complete the deal once I get back?

This is why I think the API improvement is the best option. People can narrow it down a bit finer and if there was someone available and active at the moment they could get the item from them, but if they needed to search for a larger scope it would include people like you and me that leave the game open all the time so I can check the messages and get back to them.

I like that idea a lot. 'Online', 'AFK' and 'Offline' tags on .trade would allow the buyer to only interact with people currently available for fast trades, while still allowing them to leave messages for the 'AFK' folks if they can't find anything immediately.

Need timestamp for the chat system, as well as how long "that guy" has AFKed.

IMO, if they wanna improve the trade QoL, one of the major priority is the ingame chat.

As for the AFK timer, I think 24hours is reasonable enough for a server kick.

24 hours server disconnects no purpose though. Its just hey I left the game open over the weekend and I'm not coming home, other then that it won't do anything.

An Auction House can take care of this issue easily but then GGG won't be able to sell stash tabs D:

Yeah because that totally is the reason why they won't add an AH.


Get real dude, they could sell AH tabs if they really wanted to. The issue is they don't want any form of automated trading so yeah.
