Why do people who hate RNG play POE?
I don't mean to provoke anyone, I just feel like RNG is a core part of the game (and simular games in the genre) and I have trouble understanding how someone who hates to depend on luck would keep playing this game. I love RNG, and therefore I keep playing. If I hated RNG I would play something completely different.

A bit of salt enhances food, a pound of it makes it inedible. In PoE's case, you don't get to the choking bits until you've already eaten half the dish.

most people don't understand that rng is their friend when it comes to ingame success with only some hours/week available for playing.

" that is easy. We play poe because we wanted a game with the aesthetics and depth of diablo 1 /2 if diablo 3 had delivered on those two simple concepts (which it did not in any way) then poe would be in a much worse position. But diablo 3 literally delivered the core diablo 2 community on a silver platter to GGG I shouldn't have to say this but gritty dark fantasy arpg games are actually quite rare, you can count the good ones on one hand. Part of me is waiting for ggg to easy up on the rng, because under that proverbial mountain of rng mechanics is a truly wonderful game. It is just that mining down to that golden core is getting tiresome. And in fact , people ARE leaving . |

" If you are alluding to the daily threads about people wanting less RNG, it should be noted that I don't know of anyone who wants RNG to disappear, just to have it be less "R". I am not one of those people; I find the current amount of "R" just fine, as I've seen what happens to games that have far less "R". Just stating this for proper information's sake. (specifically about the "less R", my observations are that people "like" them a lot more, for the 2 weeks the play it until they've gotten everything and leave.) #1 rule of official forum boards of every video game ever: use the forums to relay info, gather suggestions, or the rare narrow-focused Poll; but NEVER as "feedback".
#2 rule: Never say the #1 rule in an official capacity. Let some guy on the forums say it, leaving yourself plausible deniability. |

" If D3 made the successor of D2, would there mean there would be no reason to play play of exile? Why do people make it seem path of exile is a bad game and the only reason why people play it is because there is no other option? The inherent question is that after you beaten the game 3x over, why play it when you know there's nothing left but to play the RNG? Path isn't the problem, the entire genre has issues that isn't acceptable for people anymore. Does anyone even play D2 anymore? People play old school rpgs, and other games all of the time because they are fun, D2 servers are literally dead despite on how "good of a game it was." PoE is trying to cash in the niche type of gameplay that was completely hard to replicate that created a infectious popularity which was the ladder battle.net that kept everyone coming back to it again and again. |

Stress release? Sometimes I just feel like whining out of frustration but I always come back. This game is like crack.

Devs listen to our comments, and sometimes they make huge important changes which make me want to hug them. You know, like making 4 links easier to craft and get. RNG is a weighted system, it's not purely random.
I don't hate RNG, I'm just pointing out that players who need better luck can actually get help if they cry loud enough. |

" If Blizzard had done a half decent job on D3 then I never would have even looked into PoE. I love PoE now. I find the RNG to be pretty acceptable. Thought Domination was pretty awful though... |

There is a method for both the gambling addicts and those who want a balanced experience can co-exist: machines that you pile in mats to get a guaranteed outcome.
I can't even stand the RNG to 4L an item. It's a massive turn off. I would much rather pop in 50xFuses, 50xJewellers, 50xChromes into some machine for guaranteed 4L, and color outcomes. For example. Gambling addicts would still be able to play the game exactly as it is currently with an addition like that. |
