Ice Bite - pretty useless

An 8% increase in pure cold damage would still be worth it for a node that is directly attached to a well used passive tree path.

2% is not though.

Well, Ice Bite is indeed poopy, as Lava Lash etc.
That's called balance in PoE. Deal with it.

Can we confirm that the mechanic works indeed the same for Lava Lash and Arcing Blows?

Also, does it also work like this for Method to the Madness?

Because basically, that would make all (partially) converted non physical damage blow,..
"Can we confirm that the mechanic works indeed the same for Lava Lash and Arcing Blows?"
Unsurprisingly, Increased Damage from one source does indeed work the same like Increased Damage from a different source. Who knew.
(and guess what? That 12% Increased Physical Damage also adds terribly little, but that isn't a problem)

Well then at least we can conclude that the elemental damage nodes are no worse than the physical ones.

That said, it isn't quite as unsuprising as you make it seem, as the different damage conversion skills (e.g. Ice Shot vs Burning Arrow) have different relative modifiers and distribute their damage in a different manner. So even if the base multiplier/addition mechanic is the same, it might work out differently for one elemental compared to the other.
They aren't though. I mean, if you're stacking just added cold damage, like I said earlier, and then you combined your +weapon elemental damage passives with WED and either more attack speed or more crit or more projectile damage, or some critical multiplier -- you will definitely feel the effect of ice bite.

If you're just /getting it/ and then not trying to exploit it, sure it's going to be subpar - all the damage nodes are. But MORE multipliers work well with increased ones. They don't work so well when you start converting damage and splitting up the bonus effect...

Hmmm,.. there does seem to be some value on both sides of the coin.

I still think the truth lies somewhere in the middle: they're generally not as good as their percentage suggests, but unless your build fails, definitely worth picking up at only one passive point, assuming you're not taking a massive detour to get there.
