There's never really been any evidence. What people observe is it's very difficult to get the best gear- they want to believe the fact they haven't been able to means it's unrealistically difficult....from there it's not much of a logical leap that to rule much of the counterevidence(other players who have the items they lust after) as invalid by assuming they got what they have via RMT.
Most of all RMT, like multiboxers, are used as a scapegoat- they get blamed for trends in the economy players don't like.
I'm not saying it doesn't happen- it does. I'd even agree that it does more in PoE then most games(small company policing the game, no equiptment ever binds to a character, the best gear is far out of reach to the average player by any legitimate means). But it's not nearly the prevalent problem the forums would have you believe. There's never been any real evidence- just supposition and assumption often in service of rationalizing or scapegoating some economic change the community as a whole dislikes. And it's entirely self-feeding...The more people complain about RMT the more other players on the forum assume it's an overwhelming problem- these players go on to turn it into their own scapegoat and the cycle continues.
Also while we're at it, the degree of self-righteousness and anger people on the internet show over RMT(or P2W for that matter) in a predominantly PvE game just strikes me as petty. Honestly the number of players that engage in RMT has got to be a fairly small minority- what difference does it make to you RMT bumps up the number of people who own endgame item X from .1% of the community to .12% or even .2% of the community for that matter? If you have the item you're still part of the proverbial 1% and if you don't, a vast majority of the community is still there with you. In either case it has no direct effect on you,
Thanks for your considered post. I'm on board with most of that. When ever i have seen complaints, its is people complaining on how they cant afford some super rare expensive item, and it is out reach solely due to inflation caused by RMT. I never see new players in those threads, commenting that they cant afford to level up beyond lvl 30 or gear themselves in a reasonable fashion. It tends to be people expressing their anguish that they cant afford the most expensive or rare stuff, items that only a tiny fraction of the player base will ever possess.

QUESTION !!!!
Does Rmt magically produce currency out of their ass ? cause apparently , people can gain infinite amount of currency using this method.
Apparently more currency get into the game cause the rmt companies print eternals, but ordinary players don't find any for 500 hours gametime.
I mean isn't it more so botting that ruins the game then rmt in this case ?.
People who rmt are like people who win lotteries, other people must see them as kind of ... people who don't fit in ?
People who you know , just can't compete like everyone else and need extra help .
The girl/guy at work who just never gets it and ask 2-3 times more then everyone else cause every thing is so "hard" to understand .
The guy who got the same position as you at work but he didn't work his way up he just licked his way up.
wow , this became a bigger rant then i was going for.

The underlying enabler of rmt is indeed boots farming buckets of eternals and exalts to feed so calledcrafters.

Yes. Either that, or extremely underpaid unskilled labor (which is in effect still botting, but with more human rights issues behind it).
