I would love to support this game because I enjoy it, but I cannot justify buying anything other than stash tabs which are a necessity.

Then buy a ton of wetas?

I've always thought that GGG's price are far to high and that they would sell much more if their prices were lower.

I'm weird...for example, I wont buy a single premium stash tab at $4 but I'd buy 20-30 if they were $1.

For me a Microtransaction is $1 or less. :-)

u "wont" spend 4$ for a tab, but you are a diamond supporter.... strange

Well that's different being a supporter means giving a donation because we like what GGG is doing and hopefully with our support they can keep doing it. Well yea you get points for you donation but that's just extra and for most of us doesn't really matter

I have this to add...

If I had big fat wads of cash to wipe my ass with I would give some of the money to GGG. Unfortunately I don't so unlike the government I must manage my money. I am not destitute by any means but I just can't see spending $20-$30 on pretty pixels for my ugly toon. If I could spend $1 at a time I would have spent a quite a bit by now.

To illustrate my point I went and looked at purchase history for the play store and e-books on kindle.

Play store comes in at just under $200 over the past 6 months. All purchases less than $5 at a time which includes purchases from the wife and kids.

Kindle e-books was just over $50 for the same time period.

Last 6 months on PoE = $0. Why? I love the game but I just can't justify the hit of $20 bucks for pixels. If it was $50 for a cd I would have bought it. If it was $1 for MTX I would have bought it.

GGG's pricing model doesn't fit my purchase style.
Crafting doesn't exist in POE. Gambling does...and the house always wins.

Velocireptile - I LOL'ed. Which made me fart. I wish the office were empty right now :(

Hardlicker - I had to push the dog out of the way so I could get to the sexy quilt.
I have bought a few things, but def. feel like the pricing it too high in general. I try to buy the cheapest supporter packages...

I was really interested in the new flaming skull until I saw it was nearly 30$? 30$..
I agree with OP.
I'd love to buy some of the new cool micro-transactions, but unfortunately at a price like that I don't think I ever will.

Unless you're Charan and you don't care what happens to your money. ;)

for example:
lightning scorpion - in my country about 51 work hours to afford it,NO THX
There is no X in microtransactions therefore its MTA not MTX.
The prices are optimized for maximum profits. Sucks for the people who have no money, but at least they got the whole game for free :)
GGG banning all political discussion shortly after getting acquired by China is a weird coincidence.
Plenty of people buy them- thus they aren't really overpriced.

Something is worth exactly what people are willing to pay for it. We're not even talking about something absolutely necessary(think food and water) that people have no choice but buy regardless of price- these are cosmetic modifications- the very expression of a good where the decision to purchase is motivated entirely by the buyer's percieved utility vs cost. The fact that plenty of people are buying them says that the price is reasonable. You can only really objectively say something is overpriced if it isn't selling.

Now whether you personally think it's a worthwhile purchase is another matter entirely- that's subjective and requires no rationalization on your part. But there's a difference between you thinking it's not worthwhile and the good it's self being overpriced- the latter relates to the price as regarded by the consumer base as a whole, the former to only your own sensibilities.

One could very well argue that it would be more profitable for GGG to price their cosmetic items at cheaper values(due to increased sales)- and that is a reasonable argument to make. Especially reasonable considering we're discussing a digital product(which is to say one that once created has no cost per unit produced/sold).

But people really need to get past the belief that any good has an intrinsic value it should be priced at decided by cost of production and historical price of similar goods(think cosmetic items in other games). Ultimately the value of a good is decided the price which people are willing for it- and something is generally "overpriced" if the seller could turn a greater profit by selling at a lower price.

I highly doubt that.

I wonder how many items they'd sell and how much they'd make if everything in the shop was $1.
Ascension tied to Lab is the worst thing GGG has done...apart from GGG's philosophy on Trading. Oh and Gambling Loot boxes. And selling out to tencent.

I used to love GGG. I supported to ensure GGG remained independent, now I just wish I could get my money back. -_-
