Energy Shield vs Armor - Chaos Inoculation?

I think it's tough to beat CI + Arctic Armor. It makes you immune to Chaos, and highly resistant to fire and physical. Now you only have to focus on lightning, cold and a fat ES and you're quite hard to kill.

Actually, any decent physical damage easily bypasses AA, because CI has low armour. CWDT+IC is probably the best and cheapest way to mitigate physical.
Cold is most dangerous because of freeze. Get freeze/chill immunity, and suddenly cold damage isnt a concern.
And AA requires tons of mana, which isnt easy to get without EB (incompatible with CI).
So, like i previously said, fat ES pool is the main defence for CI char. With CI, you can reach HP pool much higher, than with life, or reach the same pool with much less nodes (releasing them for build requirements, for example).

Getting twice the ES to life is bullshit. I am not even sure it is possible to get 10000 ES. Certainly not without sacrificing all armor/evasion. Getting 5000 life though is nothing special.

Infact without discipline aura I would have less ES on my shadow than I have life on my duelist and I am using a shield with hundreds of ES on shadow while my duelist is dual wielding.

CI is weak compared to life builds right now, but it has its benefits. Immunity to chaos damage is pretty sweet and being able to regenerate your entire ES pool in a few seconds helps against some bosses.
CI builds routinely break the 10k mark.

You break 10k ES only if you have the best gear possible (1k ES chestpiece, 500 shield and 4-500 circlet)... a more realistic ES pool would be 7k if you're going pure ES... Or 5k if you have hybrid gear.

I have a Templar with 10k ES and 10k AR. That's before granite btw. It's possible with good hybrid gear.

That's a pretty big overstatement. AA will work better than armor for a similiar investment. Not to mention it makes you outright immune to some enemy types even in the worst maps.

AA with CI is very much doable and solves all mana issues that many CI builds suffer from.

How does AA solves mana issues for CI?

Anyway getting high es is super easy, i get 6700 es with this crap + discipline
