What happens when you insta-respec your character and are bored the next day because you have nothign left to do but grind?
When you make a new character from level 1, you aren't just doing the same thing you've already done. You can find a lot of cool uniques and gems while leveling, you'll find a lot of currency, you'll experience the game's obstacles from a different perspective, you'll actually learn some things and get better at the game. You might even get some ideas for more new characters.
Easier respecs will just burn you out on the game faster. Seriously, the longevity in an ARPG is replay-ability, not grinding the very end of the game forever.

I have not actually started to play PoE yet, and the one thing that makes me hesitate is the fact that you can't reroll/reset all your skills. Now, there are pro's and con's to this.
The pro's are that all the decisions you make are important
The con's are the same, all the decisions you make are IMPORTANT.
The fact that you know that you have no chance of doing a complete reroll puts a pretty heavy burden upon you. The gameplay changes from something casual, to something super serious. If you want to make a powerful character, you will have to know everything about all skills to be able to make an informed decision. This makes me anxious, and I don't want to feel anxious when playing a computer game.
Of course, it should not be too easy to reset your skills either since that will make it too casual and it would mean that you could do whatever you want because you don't really have to sacrifice anything. But at the same time, you don't want the pressure of everything you do being carved into stone.
How about trying to reach a middle ground? How about something like this:
In order to reset all your skills, you would have to complete some kind of pretty tedious and difficult quest. There should also be a reroll cooldown for about a week or so, making sure that people wont just reroll all the time.
This would remove the burden from the new players shoulders, because we would know in the back of our heads that even if we mess up our build, there is a chance to make it right again. It won't be easy to make it right, but it is doable.
When you start playing a game, you want to build a character that you can stick with for a long time. You don't want to have to build 10 test characters first that you know never will be powerful.
Sure, you can just look in the forums and use some already theory crafted uber build, but does not that kind of ruin the whole game experience? I mean, a lot of people probably want to figure out the skills themselves. But most of us don't have the time to make 10 different character until we find a good match.
I hope that this gets some attention.
Thanks!
There already is a middle ground, its respec points and orbs of regret.

i've should've spent over 100 respect points on my charecter, it's my first and only charecter, i think the main reason i love it so much is preciselly the time i spent overcoming the mistakes i made over the time. i think the current system is good as it is.
+ the whole follow 1 build ruins the game is also not true, i followed a build myself, yet i dont have the same gear, use the same skills, i even changed the tree as i wanted, it only ruins the game if you copy past the build

and yet you wasted a wall of text that I stopped reading after the first paragraph.
IF you had played the game you would know it is possible to respec. It's not handed to you like a plate of cookies but it isn't hard.

There is such a quest and it is either farming for regret orbs or waiting for the next skill tree reset. About the first option: I played one of my current characters from 1 to 78 with selffounf stuff only and if I sold all the stuff I don´t currently need I`d have enough currency to reset it completely. So it´s not that bad.

It's a lot easier to get enough regret points to do a near full respec than you think. If you decide you need one at lvl. 80, well, that is your fault.
Hell, some people do their whole builds around doing it a certain way up until a certain level, then using a bunch of regret orbs to undo part of it and go through the tree a better way, which would have made early game difficult.
This ain't necessary anymore after the implimentation of ST imho. You can lvl up to A3M with ST - Shiversting - Geofri - Rigvald

Lol what?! You're too wrong about too many points. Other than that if someone really needs respec should just wait until 1.1.0, which is said to be probably giving full respec.

I realize that gear is more important than experience in this game.
Yep! When I used to play PoE, I agonized over how to spend my skill points only to realize that what would really matter was GEAR. No wonder this game was made by grinding GEAR game.
I disagree. In my experience, your passive tree is extremely important. Possibly even more than gear. Both must work together.
