Why you should be able to reroll you character!
I have not actually started to play PoE yet, and the one thing that makes me hesitate is the fact that you can't reroll/reset all your skills. Now, there are pro's and con's to this.
The pro's are that all the decisions you make are important The con's are the same, all the decisions you make are IMPORTANT. The fact that you know that you have no chance of doing a complete reroll puts a pretty heavy burden upon you. The gameplay changes from something casual, to something super serious. If you want to make a powerful character, you will have to know everything about all skills to be able to make an informed decision. This makes me anxious, and I don't want to feel anxious when playing a computer game. Of course, it should not be too easy to reset your skills either since that will make it too casual and it would mean that you could do whatever you want because you don't really have to sacrifice anything. But at the same time, you don't want the pressure of everything you do being carved into stone. How about trying to reach a middle ground? How about something like this: In order to reset all your skills, you would have to complete some kind of pretty tedious and difficult quest. There should also be a reroll cooldown for about a week or so, making sure that people wont just reroll all the time. This would remove the burden from the new players shoulders, because we would know in the back of our heads that even if we mess up our build, there is a chance to make it right again. It won't be easy to make it right, but it is doable. When you start playing a game, you want to build a character that you can stick with for a long time. You don't want to have to build 10 test characters first that you know never will be powerful. Sure, you can just look in the forums and use some already theory crafted uber build, but does not that kind of ruin the whole game experience? I mean, a lot of people probably want to figure out the skills themselves. But most of us don't have the time to make 10 different character until we find a good match. I hope that this gets some attention. Thanks! Ce fil de discussion a été automatiquement archivé. Les réponses ont été désactivées.

You can reroll. I dunno why people think you can't.
GGG gives me Diablo 2 Teleport? I give them 50 bucks. No questions asked.

24 character slots should be enough for resets
And, isn't sanity really just a one-trick pony anyway? I mean all you get is one trick, rational thinking, but when you're good and crazy, oooh, oooh, oooh, the sky is the limit - The Tick

The point in pseudo permanent characters is to develop character attachment and disallow disposable characters. POE end game starts prior to level cap and the road to end game doesnt become obsolete immediately upon hitting a certain level, unlike in MMO's.
Judging by your post I feel a lot of your gaming experience comes from MMO's and you have to realize this game doesnt follow the same format. In both formats, the point is to advance your characters stats usually through gear. In an MMO, your character development and more importantly gear development is based on time playing that character. Rerolling in an MMO means you start mostly from scratch. In POE your gear development is mostly based on time playing the GAME and not your character. In an MMO, there is a designated level cap and you progress into end game. Also most character choices prior to end game become obsolete. In POE, there is only a soft cap for end game. You start end game when your character is ready, which can be anywhere from like ~60-70 and even if you dont acquire items your character still progresses during end game through levels. Usually after rerolling, you will start up in end game faster than your previous character, reducing some of the time required to play the real meat of the game. Unlike MMO's which require 1-level cap, raid 1, raid 2, raid 3...... current content. I rerolled 3 times before i found a main, spent 4-5 days playing him to 69(lol) and realized i should have gone the other way on the talent tree. I had the choice to purchase regret orbs and level a few times to fix it, or reroll. I rerolled, started end game 5 levels sooner and it took me 2 days to get there. Rerolling in this game is not a big deal. You have respec points that allow you to mitigate some of talent mistakes and the ability to transfer gear and item finds to other characters to mitigates it further. The only 100% permanent decision making in this game are the 3 bandit quests which wont make or break your character, they are by design intended to min/max your characters performance. I promise you, there is a middle ground in terms of respeccing and it works well. I also promise you that rerolling in this game will not be what makes the game unfun for you. It's a lot easier to get enough regret points to do a near full respec than you think. If you decide you need one at lvl. 80, well, that is your fault.
Hell, some people do their whole builds around doing it a certain way up until a certain level, then using a bunch of regret orbs to undo part of it and go through the tree a better way, which would have made early game difficult. I have to agree wholeheartedly. I'm afraid I have to reroll my level 51 marauder. It took me over a week to get to level 51. I don't want to do it again! I could trade for the 30 orbs of regret that I need, but I don't even think I have enough orbs of value of trade for that. I realize that gear is more important than experience in this game

" I feel very sorry for you. When i start a character i can get to merciless within a day which is 55+ lvl. I rerolled so many characters i stopped to count them. Now im making my XX'th project with a new build @62lvl currently and still not sure if it will work or not, maybe it wont and i just delete her. My point is, this is what the game is about. Learning from your own mistakes and keep building better and better characters everytime you start one. If you feel like you dont have enough time to play and only want one or two characters then feel free to visit the character section on the forums. You can find 100 % guaranteed working builds over there. People who came here and start playing with their 1st character with hopes that it will be a very succesful build, well... keep dreaming. And to the OP : I dont remember that u could rerolled in D2 without starting over again if u messed up. And this game my friend, is a diablo 2 inspired "clone". And also, note that this game is "serious" like you said and wasnt made for casuals. It is hard and complex and it is also very hard to understand for newcomers. You just need time. And I'm really sick of people who came here without playing the game making suggestions like "why should it be like this and that" well fuck you. You did not discovered America ok ? This forum exists for almost 2 years and you are not the first one with this idea and suggestion. There is a reason obviously why it is like this. So if you have not started the game yet but already came to the forums QQ-ing, please gtfo. Dernière édition par MegaTen_IV#3375, le 12 janv. 2014 à 13:44:30

" Yep! When I used to play PoE, I agonized over how to spend my skill points only to realize that what would really matter was GEAR. No wonder this game was made by grinding GEAR game. |

" There are orbs of regret that grant you respec points. Also, you could just make a new character - there is a reason you have 24 char slots. |
