There should be a default sig that everyone gets and you can change which character is displayed, maybe offer a few color options or something.

Better yet! Sell signatures as Microtransactions, this way you (GGG) can control the size and content of the sigs.

If they were small enough they really would not cause a problem, and since they are forum scripted they can be standardized to act as visual dividers between posts.

Waste of space and bandwidth plus PoE is more "down-to-earth" aesthetically so I think it's all good as is.

we do not need image signatures here in this forum. i agree that some form of character based addition, or a profile page would be a nice addition but as they currently are the forums here are readable.

to state my opinion, I hate/loathe forums that allow this to the extremes such as the Runic games forum. the threads there are a complete mess and are impossible to follow. we shouldn't want this.

if you want to express your individuality and 'specialness' here on the forum then purchase and design an avatar. remember that this is one way GGG can make money from all their hard work, so you would also be contributing to the ongoing process of PoE.

I don't like the vast majority of image signatures and if they were allowed here I would want (and use) a "hide signatures" option despite losing sight of the good signatures.

There's an old rule of thumb that you keep signatures to the equivalent of five lines of text or less and that the signature doesn't outshine the content.

That signatures are dimmed is good. The dark narrow GGG signature pics are good. Allowing user-made bright images would be awful.

I do like the idea of a microtransaction giving us the ability to enable a GGG-like signature pic with whatever (changeable) character we desire. I think it would be well used and a good source of income. In the meantime, text lines as "Mario, Level -1, Legacy Hardcore" will have to suffice.

If every single beta member becomes a diamond supporter, I will gauarntee that they will enable pictures for signatures. If not, then here is my reply to this suggestion (which was started in a different thread, but this seems to be the best place for it):

Forum avatars serve a similar purpose to image signatures, and IIRC the notes on becoming a diamond supporter hint that they may allow custom avatars as a separate microtransaction in the future. I suspect if there is a fee and it has to go through an approval process, it would limit signature spam and fund game support and further development.
